Ehhh Jemele Hill has always been a notorious Lakers hater. Anyone who watches Around the horn will know what I'm talking about.
A lot of people might hate Dwight but even they know that adding him makes the Rockets an instant title contender. Add a scoring power forward and it's game over for the rest of the league.
dwight will be an Asik on steroids. If we can then package Asik to get another good player..i'd totally be for it.
I watch. It's called objectivity and not automatically buying into the hype machine. Given how 99% of ESPN operates, I could see how an objective reporter could come off as a "notorious hater" on the topic of the LA Lakers. In reality, she's not. Oh, and if you actually disagree with her points in this column, spell it out. Seems pretty straight-forward.
Is that worse than always being compared to Olajuwon? Because that'd be the refrain in his Rockets career -- if only he was as good as the Dream.
LOFs are going to go nuts about the fact he isn't even mentioned in that paragraph. As for my own thoughts - I cannot stand Dwight Howard. That said, there is something gnawing at me about this possibility. Dwight Howard just had the hardest, most humbling season of his career. Everybody is against him now. What if that finally motivates him? What if he's finally ready to develop his post game and reach his potential? If he is - could there be a better place for him to be than Houston? Coached by McHale and Carroll Dawson, two of the best big men coaches alive, and, conveniently, right in Hakeem Olajuwon's stateside backyard? I can't stand Dwight Howard. But the Rockets really ought to feel him out. Because if this year of failure has made him hungry, then the Rockets need to do everything in their power to get him here. I'm more than willing to put aside my hatred for Dwight and get on board for his redemption story if it means bringing another championship to Houston.
If he wins one title here I doubt people would care much. If he wins one title in L.A they will always say "He was never Kareem...Shaq..." They would barely appreciate it the same.
