Looks like the Clippers are about to be eliminated in the 1st rd by Memphis.

Lakers have already been eliminated in the 1st rd.

I think the first option Morey explores is convincing both Chris Paul and Howard to sign with the Rockets. Already have enough cap space to give one max contract. When the Clippers realize Paul is leaving, I would assume they'd agree to a sign and trade and getting Lin and Asik in return. Donald Sterling cares more about $$ than he does winning, and he knows that Lin is a cash cow internationally.

Personally, I don't want Howard, but in my opinion I think this is Morey's first plan to explore.

    Paul
    Harden
    Parsons
    Smith/TJones
    Howard

It is doable and not even that hard.

With a sign and trade you have Lin and Asik going out, so about 17 million going out. You might even pack T-Rob with it putting it over 20 millions.

You cut Delfino, Garcia and perhaps somebody else. And you easily have enough for CP3 and Howard (we should have about 17 million now without Garcia, we need about 40 million - the sign and trade means we are at about 37 million, cutting Delfino gets you 40).

Salary is not the problem - but getting CP3 and Howard to sign with us is.

    yep sure have.

They already have enough to offer one max contract and between Lin (8 mil) & Asik (8 mil) there's another 16 million, which is enough for another max contract.

Have you ever heard of something called simple math?

CP3's a pipe dream and while there's a glimmer of hope for DH12, he's going to have a very tough time leaving $30,000,000 on the table.

Paul Millsap looks like plan 1B.

Well, he is only leaving 30 million of guaranteed money on the table. So if he is sure, that he can stay healthy and keep playing at a high level, he is not leaving anything on the table.

But I think the big lights of LA and their ability to attract high level free agents will be too much to pass up...

As for Millsap - he'd be ok, but I'd much rather try to get a star - if not this offseason, than preserve capspace and go at it again net off season...

Sorry, but no. I rather stay young and rebuild for the future. I'll fire Mchale and get a real coach who can actually make great play calls. With Paul and Howard we'll only get good 4 or 5 years out of them, while with this current young team we can get more. Sorry I rather go after Kevin Love next year.

I'd rather have Chris Paul. Paul + Harden backcourt would be sensational, and it would fix our issues executing at the end of games.

If we cut every player on a team option or non-garunteed contract this summer....and ....if the salary cap jumps from 58 million to 60 million the Rockets will only have about 17.9 million in salary cap.

In order to offer D12 a max contract (about 20 million) the Rockets will have to make a trade (TRob etc...).

In order to offer both D12 and Chris Paul (approx 18 million) max contracts the Rockets would have to make many trades including both Asik and Lin (16 mil in cap space combined). We would also have to find takers for at least two or more of White, DMo, TJones.

Trading Asik, Lin, TRob, White, DMo and TJones seems pretty far fetched to say the least but...

If Morey knows for a fact that he could sign both D12 and CP3 he would trade them all, providing there are enough teams out there to trade with.

If Paul absolutely insisted on leaving LA for Houston I'm sure the Clippers would work with us so they could acquire Lin and the money that would follow. Pipe dream though. I do know Morey loves Paul so it wouldn't surprise me if he has something up his sleeve. Still a pipe dream though.

    It is actually fairly do-able.

Simply play both LA teams against one another.

Tell each team that both Paul and Howard are on board with playing with the Rockets and they need one of the teams to facilitate a SnT. First one to take up the offer gets Lin/Asik, the other team gets nothing.

Hell dangle Jones or DMO, or worst case Parsons.

Are you insane? If there was a way to get both Howard and Paul, you do it. Yes I agree, that it would really just be for 4 or 5 years but you're going to be contending for 4 or 5 championships! A trio of Paul, Harden and Howard would dominate. IMO it would be a better trio than the Heatles. If we keep our current team, we are not championship contenders. Even with Kevin Love.

Of course the Rockets "could" do it. But they're not LA, they can't just decide to pay three guys the entire salary cap and every vet in the league will throw themselves at Houston looking for a vet min contract. You need a full roster and a full roster costs money.

Incidentally, I would take Paul + Asik over Lin + Howard a million times out of a million.

Why would you think CP3 want to leave Clippers? In Clippers, he is the goto guys, the soul of the team. If he comes Rockets, is he accepting to be #2? If Rockets happened to sign Howard, is CP3 going to accept #3? Or Howard accepted to be #2 or #3?

And one more thing, just because you put 5 guys with great stat doesn't meant it will work out. The best rap sheet this season was from the Lakers and how did it ended up?

    Plan B: Pau Gasol.

    Lin
    Harden
    Parson
    Gasol
    Asik

God another lineup where Harden would stand out appearance wise. Nobodies beard can compare
