In light of NBA veteran Jason Collins becoming the first active professional athlete who is openly homosexual, Westboro Baptist Church’s Twitter account @WBCSays said Tuesday it will picket outside Chesapeake Energy Arena for the Rockets and Thunder Game 5 first-round playoff matchup. Westboro supporters have sent out threatening messages to Collins, Thunder forward Kevin Durant and others associated with the NBA while also using a ‘#GodH8sTheNBA’ hashtag. The independent church, led by pastor Fred Phelps and his daughter Margie, is known for protesting military funerals and believes that President Barack Obama is the Antichrist.
That is just so dumb. They should boycott christianity then with all of those molestation happy priests.
That's what protestantism is: a protest against catholicism--therefore, they should 'protest' catholic priests molesting boys.

I'm not a religious person at all, but surely you realize how stupid it is to lump ALL Christians in with the Westboro Baptist Church.
These guys do this so that their firstm amendment rights get breached, and then they sue, half of their family are lawyers, the others accountants (and the church pays for law and accountancy degrees of members). As a tidbit, when you make a civil rights claim, the government pays your legal fees, they use their own firm to represent themselves and hence get paid out to do it even if they lose. When forced to open their books due to a lawsuit, this little church of 12 people had over $2m in funds, raised almost exclusively by civil rights lawsuits. What does this teach us? If we are to stop them, shoot them, all of them, no family and no living means no lawsuit.

Further to that, it's not that Westboro doesn't hate gay people, they certainly do, it's just that they've turned their hate into a business, that's success is predicated on being the greatest trolls on earth.

They are like real life trolls. If you ignore them and don't report about them then they will fade away. I know it's not your fault, but you even posting this article so all of us can find out about it is basically the only thing they want. Newspapers and television stations covering it are playing into their hands. If they did this and no one knows about it because news stations don't report about it and newspapers don't write about it, they won't really be satisfied.
