That makes more sense than engine failure.

Wow, as a commercial pilot myself this gives me the chills. God bless the crew. RIP

With that said, my initial suspicion is that this is a payload, or flight issue. The video clearly shows characteristics of a stall situation. I have a lot of Boeing experience, but not in the 747 so I cant comment on the characteristics of that specific plane, but it looks as if the payload shifted and put the aircraft out of CG.

    Terrible.

Incredible. Those final brief moments, what was running through everyone's head... wow. I really feel bad for the families of the victims.

So it only killed 7? How the hell did anyone survive that? Were there only 7 people on board?

I'm with Swoly, in that there's over-expanded coverage now 24/7 and more recording devices (Though I'm not with his near sociopathic smile-and-shrug of everything)

Its not to rationalize it - But can click on a browser page with stories sprinkled on it top to bottom, a long scroll down list and its 3/4's tragedy and scandal. And message boards like this, they bring it to your face even more.

Where back in the day (if you're old enough to recall "back in the day") if you didnt read the newspaper past page 2, or didnt watch the news, you probably wouldnt be TOO exposed to bad news.

Yahoo front page is that kinda layout. It possibly is the same ratio of good-to-bad news as in the past, but we just get more pure volume now. Still, yeah there's gonna be those periods where all the tragedy seems clustered in closer together

I read that the plane was carrying several MRAPs that were not loaded correctly and shifted during takeoff toward the tail of the plane. Considering these weigh several tons each, the sudden shift in weight caused the stall and resulting crash.

Cargo plane, not a passenger plane.

If anyone is curious as to how such a thing happens, reddit tends to have such insight:

TL;DR: The cargo inside wasn't tied down right and shifted, causing the plane to lift up. This causes not enough airflow over the wings, thus no lift and down you go.

^^ Yes, that reddit explanation was a TL explanation of a stall. no duh!

Of course it was a stall. Question is, why did the stall happen you stupid reddit's.

I doubt that is pilot error.

    .

The stall happened because the weight of the cargo shifted to the back. It described above as well.

Yes, they probably do, maybe in their own language, but... how do you know he is an "afghan"?

    Sounds like he speaks English.

You should read. It's because the cargo inside wasn't strapped down and shifted.

That plus planes in Afghanistan probably have to take off at a steep angle to minimize being hit by RPGs.

I feel sorry for the guy whose responsibility it was to make sure the cargo was strapped down properly.
