I am all for reducing pointless bickering and more so on flame baiting and name calling. I try to ignore those threads/posts, that's why I haven't even clicked once on those "Harden trying to throw the game" or "Is Rockets better without Harden" crappy threads. But "anyone doesn't worship Lin is a racist" is something even dumbest Lin only fans wouldn't say. I am sure race cards were pulled sometime unwisely, but over-dramatizing it is not going to help, IMHO. Exaggerating views of a very few, by bringing in race and Lin, could actually be disservice of your message. Of course you are a passionate fan, and we've all enjoyed the hard work you put in, most noticeably those high quality videos. You are also a moderator at the same time, such implication from a mod, albeit posting as a fan, has negative effect. That's my perspective. You can absolutely disagree or dismiss. But I thought that's what a forum is for.
Have you seen Harden's play as of late? Lin has played very well for us all year. He is injurrd , had a bad opening game, played well until he was injured in the second game. Nothing he has done justifies the hate he gets. Another stupid Lin Hater. Go regurgitate your **** somewhere else.
It goes both ways dude. For example, there are times when Lin holds the ball and jacks up a bad shot. Not all the time, but it happens. When it does happen, many people say "Lin is learning from Harden" or something similar to that effect.
Why can't the fans criticize the players? They do because they care. Everyone has opinions. I love reading people's arguments because it brings out their observation of the games that I wasn't aware. The fact is both Harden and Lin sucked in the playoffs. Even though I said "fact" but it is still my observation so if you don't agree just provide counter-argument why they didn't suck. No need to be all sensitive and ask Clutch to ban posters.
I know clutch has worked hard for this site, but his approach to managing the forum is a huge part of why the GARM has so many problem posters. The moderators create the atmosphere of the forum by deciding which posts are permitted and which are not. If they wanted to create more respectful, serious discussion, they would start deleting/locking FAR more threads than they currently do, and would institute much harsher requirements for a thread to remain active. For example, we have numerous threads on the front page right now where the OP has almost no content, and is just a provocative statement designed to stir up an argument between fanboys of one side or another. That's basically trolling, and threads like that should be removed immediately, but they are not. It's one thing if you make a thought-provoking post with ten solid paragraphs of analysis on the subject. It's another thing if you spew out two sentences of emotion-stirring BS in the hopes to start mudflinging argument. There's also the issue of threads going off track. Like how this thread was started about respecting Clutch and the forum and being a good forum user, and now there's more fighting about Lin/Harden. The moderators should threaten to lock threads if people don't stay on topic, and follow up on that threat if sidetracking continues. In short, this forum COULD be a more respectful, on topic, thought provoking place, but it is not. Being really active does not necessarily a great BBS make, it's also about what content and discussion goes down in the place.
If you're addressing me, I have no issue with criticizing players. I do it all the time. I'm talking about instances where people aren't looking to have a discussion about how a player is doing, but taking cheap shots to get people riled up. If you don't have a problem with that, you probably don't see any problem with the current state of the board.
The forums have just gotten much bigger with many more users. Not just because of Lin but because of the growth of the internet. When forums get huge, the signal to noise ratio decreases. It's really hard to moderate something like this without an automated voting sytem
No I wasn't replying to your posts. I was talking to people in general who got all worked up because they think we should all ignore the problems just because we won the game and certain people who think fans shouldn't provide counter opinions to certain player's criticism. So it goes both way. I also enjoy some light hearted jokes such as McFail meme, Lin's building a great wall, difference between time and Harden, etc. And i have to admit that Collins taking it to the hole tread is pretty funny. I don't always agree with Clutch but this is his site so he can delete whatever he wants. With that being said, I do agree few posters here whose posts are only to bash certain players with no contents should be ban.
when it comes down to it, it's about showing a level of respect for all of OUR players. There's valid criticism, and there's unnecessary insult, hate and disrespect. you all know what i'm talking about - i can't define it, but like p*rn... you know it when you see it. i personally don't see anything wrong with being a big and at times irrational fan of a player. we are all fans, after all. the word "fan" came from the word "fanatic". we are all fanatics.. of a team, a player, etc.. if you don't agree with the rosy outlook of lin that some have, then ignore the irrationality and move on. it doesn't hurt you that someone likes a player more than you like him. what i have problem with, is the personal attacks and disrespect for OUR players; players that have put in countless hours of work to bring us a season that we can all be proud of. not to say they're above criticism.. but again, some of the posts are beyond criticism and just show a total lack of respect for these guys.
It's okay for everyone to bash harden, Asik and parsons, but for some reason when people say bad things about a specific point guard, even though it could be the IDENTICAL words that have been said toward harden, Asik, or Parsons, i guarantee you will be called a hater/troll/not a true fan.
I think Clutch is more concerned about the people who troll xOFs (hate this term) to get a reaction than xOFs.
It goes both ways. You see some people get all defensive making excuses for Harden and they are the same people who bashed others for making the same excuses for that specific point guard you were talking about. Who cares? You can counter argue why a certain player sucks or good as long as you don't use other players as excuse and cry "waa, they only criticize him but why don't they criticize the other guy."
I've seen a couple of references to the Collins coming out thread being deleted.. It wasnt deleted, it got moved to the D&D where threads that get political or religious go. http://bbs.clutchfans.net/forumdisplay.php?f=28 Religion, politics, race and other hot button topics(and posts) do NOT go in any forum other than the one I just linked above...if those subjects find their way out of the D&D, they get moved back there.
Yeah, that won't happen. But it's inconsequential anyway: les, daryl and the players are all getting paid hand over fist, and the actual fans who go to games are having a great time hanging out with friends and family in a top-notch arena. Meanwhile the forum is mosh pit of low self esteem, anxiety driven couch potatoes who dump and project all their insecurities onto the players. I've come to enjoy standing on the fringes of it laughing. Just a reminder that the forum's keyboard jockeys have no impact on the team itself, and are therefore largely irrelevant, except as a document to the racial insecurities and neuroses of it's handful of participants.
I'm a Lin hater. But you and the numerous other posters criticizing Harden's poor play are...what? Or are y'all racists as well?
