He's thinking right. Attack Durant, he can't be playing all 48 minutes both ways carrying the offense on his own.
Offensively, Parsons being more aggressive and assertive in that 3rd quarter was a revelation. He made things happen. I think a lot of time Parsons takes a back seat to Harden and Lin offensively and that's ok when others are scoring. But with Lin out, Harden needs some help so I think Parsons taking up the slack there is huge. I hope to see him be that assertive in game 5 and moving forward.
Great to hear. I hope he backs it up. When he wasn't as aggressive in the 2nd quarter, the team really struggled. He came out aggressive and attacked the basket with authority and the team followed him. Now I would like to see him to get the ball a little more with the game on the line.
So, this is probably an odd comment...but anyone else notice how OLD Parsons looked last night? Bags under his eyes, forehead wrinkles, the wrinkle on the sides of the nose...he looked like he is 35, instead of 24.
As I said many times in the game thread, we actually have found our leader in the team. I hoped for Harden to fill that role, but he's not vocal enough. Your leader doesn't have to be your best player, just like Deke and Shane were our leaders before TMac and Yao back then. Parsons has shown through his words and actions that he wants that role, and he's exercising that leading role. I am happy to see that. Didn't the commentator mention something like Parsons called players only meeting after previous loss? NONE of our players is ego-maniac, look-at-me type of guys, which makes it so easy to root for this group, and also makes it easy for them to support Parsons.
Lol he looks older than when he first joined the rox. I ran into him last year after the first couple games in the season. Him, Bud & Clee were all at Red Door. Nobody recognized him at the time. Lockout just ended and this dude was under the radar. I told him he was making a name for himself and I was impressed how he took Bud's starting spot so quickly. He asked me my name and told me thanks. And we parted ways. Nice guy. No homo. Cool story bro. But yeah at that time he looked much younger.

This guy is a more athletic version of Peja. I'm extremely excited to see where he'll be in 3-4 years.
Unfortunate the Rockets are 1-3, but the series has been great for this team. Players are learning things about their teammates and themselves. I think for much of this season many of our our players were content to stand back and let Harden run the show. But now we are seeing players like Parsons and Beverley emerge as confident leaders that deserve a larger role. If a player chooses to always stand in the shadows and wait for someone to give him a chance to shine, that chance may never come. In the NBA, players need to create their own opportunities by being aggressive and not backing down to anyone. Last night Parsons just decided he wasn't going to be denied, he decided he was going to take the lead, and it paid off with a win. All our players need to understand that just because Harden is on the floor doesn't mean that they can't be aggressive and take over a game. Also, I think once Harden sees that he is playing with other players that can be aggressive with the ball, then we will probably see less ISO ball from Harden.
While it sucks that Harden is struggling. I love that it's causing Chandler and other guys to step up to the plate. It really shows the growth. Harden, Chandler and Asik make the future of this team incredibly exciting.
Parsons likely has not reached his prime either. Peja's career 3pt% is .40 - His best year was .44 late in his career playing with CP3. Chandler was known as a sharp shooter coming out of HS. Thier games are very similar IMO.
Career 40 % from 3 is all we need to know. Don't think Chandler can top that when its all said and done. But chandler is better in other aspects. Dribble drives, pump fakes and the fast break
Good stuff from Chandler. The Rockets need to allow him to handle alot more of the playmaking on the perimeter. Its not always as pretty as Harden/Lin, but he's pretty damn efficient in the pick and roll, and always makes smart plays even if its slightly methodical. The main challenge this offseason is for McHale and co. to work in plays or new sets that allow the perimeter players to play off of each other instead of just taking turns. You have too much talent on the perimeter to do that.
