I have too many favorites to pick just one but Dr. Strangelove and A Clockwork Orange are 2 of my favorites of all time...
1970's Planet of the Apes. EPIC! the Statue of Liberty screeen at the end! (Chilling!) "Dame u all to hell!"

I see a lot of good films here that I think are absolutely great (12 Angry Men, Young Frankenstein, Bladerunner etc) But when I think of Best Movie of all time, I think of more than just a great story or acting - Have to include Score, Cinematography and Directing along with a great Story. I'd put "Life is Beautiful" up there in my top 3 easily.
Im wondering that too because it leads to believe the 2013 best movie /shrug Which i would have said The Croods!
Rep, hard to argue with either one of your choices. Lawrence of Arabia is probably my all time favorite, I just love everything about that movie.
Differentiate between this thread and old threads that were similar. You have posting nazis that will come along and link a thread that was started on the subject in 2004....even though there have been years of movie making and the comparisons of that thread are irrelevant.
Somebody mentioned to me the other day that Lawrence of Arabia is one of the only movies ever with no females actors (not including some extras and what not). I have seen the movie many times and never realized it. Maybe this is common and I just saying uninteresting things.
otoh.. Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, Godfather, Blade Runner, Apocalypse Now, and I want to throw Forest Gump in too. great movie.
I think there have been lots of movies without female actors, first one that comes to mind outside of Lawrence of Arabia is 1982 The Thing <a target='_blank' title='ImageShack - Image And Video Hosting' href='http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/837/thething1982.jpg/'><img src='http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/5754/thething1982.jpg' border='0'/></a><br>
Seven Samurai - No weakness whatsoever. Unless you're into Nicolas Sparks crap. Metropolis - it is pertinent and a mesmerizing work of art even for today's standards. Watch it on Netflix. Bicycle Thieves - simple, yet powerful.
