Very bad news for Houston, which is basically built on the suburban system. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3uvzcY2Xug

I knew this was a da1 thread when I read the title. Don't feel like watching the video on my phone. Is it about microwaves giving all suburbanites cancer and public transportation being the only remedy?
No, just the enormous cost of the suburban lifestyle and how it will all come crashing down once oil runs out.
Don't have time to watch the video now but am familiar with that argument. The suburban lifestyle and development that much of us live in is due to a confluence of several factors many of which aren't sustainable. There are other reasons why suburbia could end without even the end of cheap oil.
lol. Thanks for explaining this to us. The world we live in will be irreversably changed when oil runs out? I'm shocked! What a suprise. Sheesh.
Yeah but fracking makes fire shoot into your house and will result in the destruction of all suburbia. Plus global warming will make everything so hot and we'll need a lot of water but then the water supply will run out. We'll all be hot, dehydrated and on fire. Bad news for Houston, indeed.
Good points, all of them. I've seen the effects of global warming first hand. Where I live, it gets remarkably warmer in the afternoons than it is in the mornings. brb....gotta go charge my prius to stop this warming
