For the regular season I can understand, but for a such a close playoff game how are people getting up in the middle of the quarter to get beer or food? How hard is it to be able not eat or drink for a single quarter. It so annoying having to get up or have someone walk in front of you when a play is happening.
because those who can afford to buy playoff tickets generally don't have as much interest as the average CF neckbeard
^That. If I could afford tix, instead of getting up during quarters, I'd be peeing in the 32oz beer bottles I snuck into the TC
1) Last call for alcohol 2) They bought the damn ticket, or someone got it for them. Their choice. Best time to go IMO is a few minutes before halftime.
I was at a game when an entire section got up at the end of the quarter. I was sitting in section....405? I said to my then-girlfriend, "Is there something different about us tonight?" We were (almost) the only non-Asians in the section. The first several rows: Japanese executives. "How do you know they were Japanese?" ask the few people reading this post. Uh....Asian men, staring straight ahead, no interaction, almost no movement, blue suits all....and it's called the Toyota Center.... Anyway, third quarter horn. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNNHHH. One guy down in front stands up. .23 seconds later, the rest of the group stands, as one, as if in a Catholic Church ("all rise"). The head guy heads up the steps. The rest follow behind. Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto..... (Sorry, not racist. Couldn't help myself.) I.e., three quarters are over, and the head guy says, "Enough of this free-ticket obligated-to-show-up s***." Not one of them says, "Nah, boss, think I'll stick around, sign a Power Dancer's rack, drink a beer...." Now, what does this have to do with the OP's premise? (dramatic pause) NOT MUCH. But I was reminded, you know?
It ain't enough that the Rockets win, they have to have the most self-sacrificing, faithful FANS in the league, too, or else they SUCK ASS!!!
I was surprised how many people were leaving with a minute left in game 3. Ridiculous. It was nice to see the sellout crowd last night, though. I guess the weather really was that bad in some areas on Saturday night.
I hate fans in general. I mean why do people insist on screaming and making loud noises when I'm trying to concentrate on the game. Be quiet so I can listen to the players communicating with each other.
Also it's a free t-shirt, isn't it? Why did I still see different colors scattered all over the place?
I've only done it once...but I had a good reason. I met an old ex at the game I hadn't seen in 15 years and she was newly single and totally hot. It was the only time I was ever distracted from watching the game and being a good fan.
people dress up when there is a chance they'll be on tv and don't want to cover up their nice clothes with a t-shirt
Because people are fat and gluttons who can't go 20 minutes without putting something, be it a drink or a hot dog into their pie hole.
I was at the game last night and there were plenty of rows in the lower bowl that were empty the entire night, with the red playoff shirts still sitting on them well into the 4th quarter. (Not to mention at least 5 completely empty suites that I counted) In addition, LOTS of people started to leave with 2-3 min remaining, with the game still very much undecided. I believe if you have a ticket to a game you can do whatever, whether it is hang out at the bar all night, eat food, not show up, etc. But I'm surprised there was not more of a "sell-out" type of feel considering the game.
The Japanese executives can't get better tickets than section 405? Times be hard. Anyhow, something I noticed on TV watching these playoff games: Fans at the Toyota Center are not as "color coordinated" as fans in places like OKC and GS. In these places, pretty much every fan is wearing the free T-Shirt given by the team, so your entire stands look white, yellow, blue or whatever the theme of the night is on TV. Meanwhile, at the Toyota Center last night you had a majority wearing red, but with a significant mix of other colors (mostly blue dress shirts, I think) and some empty seats with the red t-shirt still on them. Am I missing something?
