If we don't show up to play Monday, he needs to go.

No question. And if he doesn't leave i'm off the Morey bandwagon. I know he brough us James Harden and build a good team, but having Kevin Mchale around is his biggest mistake ever.

He doesn't put players in a position to succeed. He puts Jeremy Lin back when he is clearly hurting and ineffective.

Again this is Mchale's record at the time he was hired: 39-55 wl record, no playoff experience, no finals experience.

Since Morey couldn't find any stat to justify the hiring all he said was he was a "leader of men". One of the lamest phrases ever invented by mankind.

The only way McHale is out next season in my opinion is if he steps down. He is learning as he goes and the team for the most part over performed. The Cavs have Kyrie and couldn't make the playoffs, how many years did GSW have Ellis without making the playoffs. We have a good roster, but the team is young. If we bring in a Dwight next season he would be the perfect coach to help him work on his post game.

Our coaching staff isn't a one man team but a group of people who all have roles, it's unlike any other, Mchale isn't the Xs and Os guy he is our leader of the staff. It's unconventional but it got us the 8th seed and we are competing against the #1, this series could easily be 2-1 and we would be praising his moves. I'm generally a hater of McHale but he should get another season. It was a hard year for him, he deserves to have a year without a major distraction and with this team that seems to respect him as a person and mentor.

Do we really need a coach that is still learning on the job? maybe he should start as an assistant coach and work his way up. Thats the problem when you hire someone not based on merit and fitness but on the basis of connections.

The turning point in the game can come down to two or three key possessions and thus a good coach would make the difference between success and defeat.

Those key plays are where good and experienced coaches say "I've been there and done that . " When we have a coach who is learning on the job it may set us back for several years.

If you have a young and inexperienced team its better to have an talented and experienced coach rather than a coach who is on-the-job training.

Morey won't be able to sign a top free agent, if Houston doesn't have a top notch Coach. The NBA is onto us, they know that coaching strategy and substitutions are a weakness with this team.

The Basketball Gods started game 3 between OKC and Houston as a blowout.
They wanted to teach us a lesson about the importance of coaching but then realizing that blowouts are blamed on players and close games are on the coaches....they decided to make it a close loss just to remind us that coaching really matters.

One good set play or two could've made a difference in the outcome.

I think McHale is great at player development, especially bigs. I think his in-game coaching leaves a lot to be desired and his media interviews are horrible.

He seems like a fish out of water with Les and Morey's fast break small ball dreams.
I don't know why Morey and Les hired him, I heard there is some Boston connection with Morey and Les respects him as a HOF player.

Dwight hates D'Antoni's system in LA and McHale maybe another piece in getting Dwight to Houston.

If Dwight stays in LA, I think D'Antoni's run n gun, PNR Phoenix style could be a great match for this team.

I almost fall off my chair seeing your comment.

If he had developed the BIG, then Rockets would have a mid range and PF that can grab rebound. Where is the mid range? Where is the PF???

A full 8 seconds on the clock, and we have Delfino shooting? Is that the best possible play he can pull out of his rear?

I will not be surprised if McHale leaves this summer. He was said to be something like interim coach when he signed the contract. His job is to help rebuilding and guide a coach who is a stats believer to maximize Morey's theory. Now the rebuilding job is done. McHale should let the number guy take over it.

I respectfully disagree with respect to the player development. How can he develop talent when he can't recognize it? He was the worst GM in terms of recognizing and evaluating talent.

You hire a good head coach especially for those crucial turnings points in the playoffs when one or two good set plays can change the outcome of a game.

He has the power and ability but not the inclination. The same bias that Morey had in hiring him will be the same bias that will keep Mchale around. Its the celtics ties that bind them together.
