There's also the understudied area of epigenetics, which can determine which genes get expressed so that even identical twins will have phenotypical differences.
Knew this was how it would play out. Tolerance is not enough, you have to endorse and approve of the behavior. Any dissenters from this line of thought are bigots that must be silenced.
You're right. I don’t know if identical twin have exact same genes. From what I’ve learnt so far is that they come from the same egg and their features, personality, life span, etc should be copies of each other the moment they are born. And by choice I meant the environment he’s been experienced, not as simple as one’s decision like you perceived.
it looks like those Jackson quotes are all coming from press today during practice for the playoff series the Warriors are leading, tweeted by user @SherwoodStrauss. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>For instance, I don't know whether Jackson is praying for Collins' family to withstand backlash, or praying for his soul.</p>— Ethan Strauss (@SherwoodStrauss) <a href="https://twitter.com/SherwoodStrauss/status/328953088473976832">April 29, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>I don't believe in God, I do believe in gay rights, and I also believe we should let this develop before assuming the worst of Jackson.</p>— Ethan Strauss (@SherwoodStrauss) <a href="https://twitter.com/SherwoodStrauss/status/328956206456635392">April 29, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>To be fair, Jackson said he prays during every national anthem. Dude prays a lot.</p>— Ethan Strauss (@SherwoodStrauss) <a href="https://twitter.com/SherwoodStrauss/status/328953806563966977">April 29, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> why would Jackson be fired over such comments, though? that's a little over the top.
Jason collins is a normal dude whose only main difference from most others is that hes into other dudes sexually. I know this because he felt it was a big enouh deal to make a public announcement about it. I really dont see how its possible to make ones sexual preferences that big a part of their identity and then to declare that off limits in certain conversations.
No why dont you enlighten me on the nuances of a gay movement where we ignore the thing that a person does that makes him gay.
Because it's important to keep the movement going, so that one day gays can be married and not get kicked out of a hospital because they aren't considered "family". Making people more tolerant (especially in the sports world) is important. Just because he's this one thing, doesn't mean he's just one thing.
I don't see why it's a big deal for these sports guys to be gay. All that should matter is if he's a good player or not. Look at the WNBA and softball. They have tons of lesbians and no one cares. Now as a basketball player I would not want Collins on my team, I wouldn't make that decision based on if he's gay or not though.

because cut and dry it's not about sexual preference, it's about emotional attraction and connection to another human being. well how about being fired for simply being gay, for one?
You said no one would care, and yet we have a head coach expressing, in not so many words, that Collins is engaged in a sinful lifestyle and he needs others to pray for his soul. I think Jackson and anyone else should be free to say what he likes. Its just unfortunate that with this attitude so prevalent that so many homosexual athletes need to hide away a part of themselves likes its something to be ashamed of.
Something just hit me a moment ago - this is the reception Royce White wished he would've gotten if he weren't such a dick and a psychopath.
how can you make a big public announcement about being something and then telling everyone to not ever think about it again? That's just not realistic. So today we should refer to him as the gay basketball player, but we can't do it tomorrow because that would mean we're intolerant? I wasn't thinking to differentiate between the two. I just assumed that if you are sexually attracted to men, then the emotional part goes with it too. Kinda hard to see someone whos sexually attracted to men, but emotionally attached to women. That would make for a pretty pathetic and unfulfilling sex life IMO. That's just not right, and considering that only 9 states have laws protecting people from being fired based on sexual preference, I'd think that this would be a bigger focus.
That was actually the most coherent and thoughtful thing Broussard has ever said. Wrong and faith based, but well said. But he will be suspended/fired and/or forced to apologize. Dissent will not be tolerated at ESPN.
