no, the end game is not tolerance, it's approval and endorsement of the behavior

I don't have a bio and medical degree so I'm not sure whether sexuality is related solely to gene or environment. That's why I said "unless...by choice". I'd assume sexuality is born with. I don't think I can be attracted to guys even if my life is depending on it.

I don't think it's a big deal at all. It's not like Collins is the first to admit it or the last.

Collins will have a windfall in endorsements and plaudits and publicity.

Other closeted gay athletes are going to be kicking themselves for not cashing in first.

I think he was referring to your comment that just because they are identical twins...since one is gay, so is the other

That's exactly what I was referring to.

Saying a complex behavioral trait is EITHER something you are "born with" (genetic) or "a choice" (as if you were deciding what to eat for lunch) is such an antiquated way of thinking about things, you might as well be banging out your thoughts on a typewriter and posting them in ye olde towne square.

As with most complex questions, the answer is complex as well. Not that i'm saying we know the answer or anything, just that you can't reduce it to something so simple, which shouldn't be surprising if you think about it.

you missed the endgame in that it's not about what someone is doing in the bedroom, but about what their identity is, who they are as a person, a part of what makes that person, that person.

who am I to assume what anybody does in their bedroom? how am I to know that Jason Collins didn't discover this revelation about himself no more than last week and has never had a sexual encounter with someone of the male persuasion?

people need to move past the 'sexual" part of homosexual.

Unfortunately, a gay man in professional sports can't just be himself without acknowledging his homosexuality publicly. All the whispers and gossip will force him to comment on it one way or the other; otherwise it will be like he's trying to hide it.

You understand that there are a lot more socioeconomic implications to the "gay movement" than just what happens in the bedroom, right?

Mark Jackson "As a Christian man I have beliefs of what's right and what's wrong, that being said, I know Jason Collins, I know his family And (I'm) certainly praying for them at this time."

This is NOT about Tebow, for once, okay?

SVP said he was instructed to lead with tebow, but that he went off script (& would have done the same had he been anchoring sportscenter now). At the end of his show he just addressed why, because he's a backup quarterback. The why or timing of when he got cut is NOT a story.

what an idiotic thing to say. Collins and his family doesn't need prayers. Religion is just so wrong on certain things.

Did he really say this? Praying for what? Does he think Collins coming out is bad news because being gay is a bad thing? lol....

I'm not religious, but I hope what Mark means by "praying" is his way of showing Collins and his family his support.
