If one want's to equate performance of two players one has to adjust for minutes played. The number 36 is the adjusted minutes played. For example, Harden's 36 adjusted PPg is about 24,since he averages more than 36 minutes a game.
Response So, you care to explain what do you mean by your equation? Another attempt to confuse? Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Are you saying 82games.com site is run by Asian guys, or relies too much on math, so that they are not reliable. I could easily write the equation as follows: 82games = Math =Objective and Unbiased = Most Reliable. Your equation smells of bias.
Absolutely. What does Asian have to do with this. 82games is an off shoot of basketball reference and they are not Asian. BTW most top mathemetician's are European. EG: Von Neumann, Carl Popper.
OOPS. my bad. that was totally a joke... And no way! we are better at math than those stinking Euros!!!! I have more MATH in my little toe than Spain, Portugal, AND Greece..
Jeremy has grown on us. We love his attitude and we can't wait for next season to see how much everyone grows together. Looking forward to seeing how Donatas grows next year too! Future's so bright.......I gotta wear shades
It's funny because someone started a thread about having a "serious" discussion about Lin that quickly turned into a flame war. Well done OP. As for Lin, I think 1 season isn't enough time, especially considering how much better we were than expected. Everyone deserves at least one more year, even McHale, who I have criticized a lot. Let's give these guys 1 more year to work on their chemistry. I also don't think the contract should be an issue because we don't pay the salaries, and we are still way under the cap. Lin strikes me as a hard worker, if he hadn't improved at all during the season, then I would be a lot more down on him. He improved certain aspects of his game and I guarantee that he will be shooting jumpers ALL summer. If we are in the same situation next season (getting swept as the 8) then absolutely, moving everyone outside of Harden should be discussed. As others mentioned, I do think PF is a big need. But I think defense is the biggest, and luckily we don't need to bring in anyone for that! As great as Harden is, we all know about his D. The best player should lead by example, ie MJ, Lebron etc. But I think that can be fixed with coaching and better minute management. And I absolutely think Harden can be a top 3 player in the league. For next year, I expect Lin to improve his jumper and handles, Harden to improve his man D and the whole team to be better on D overall. I expect us to be much better in general. The future is bright!
Where's the undecided option? It depends on how much he improves during this off season. Lin has a lot of weaknesses he needs to address.
Again, this thread is not about the game last night. This is not an I hate Lin thread. It's more of an evaluation. This thread is about the whole season. How do we feel about him going forward at the end of an 82 game season. It's ok to say you have confidence in him and it's ok to say you dont.
Wish lin could develop a curry shooting stroke. As for the question, I'm still undecided. He's just been really inconsistent the regular season and a non factor in the playoffs. I'll wait next season for the answer, he's got a lot of work ahead of him.
I like the honesty, there is nothing wrong with that. If we trade Lin I would still be a Lin fan also. I'm still a T-Mac fan.
That has yet to be determined. They recently beat MIA. I will say this they are better without Jeremy Lin and that doesn't mean that Jeremy is not as good as Felton. It means Felton fits on that particular team better and for less money. If Jeremy can change his game then he would be great for Houston. But do I want him to change his game? no. I would much rather see the Lin show in another town.
I agree! I think this is critical, because this is a business and we all want the Rockets to win. Lin is a superstar who does not play like a superstar. When he is not treated like a superstar on the court his fans get pissed. I am a Lin fan but I had to take a step back and realize that he may not fit this team. Lin needs to be somewhere where he is the star or he needs to change his game to be able to work with stars and still be an effective player.
If we trade Lin to the Lakers for Blake, I think your scenario would work. Lin would be the ultimate superstar running D'Antoni's PNR with Dwight and Gasol, and tutelage from Nash. Rockets would get a non-controversial guard in Blake for only $4m in the final year of his contract creating cap space and flexibility. Most importantly pre-2012 CF members would be happier and the GARM would be restored to its pre-Linsanity glory days.
I wouldn't trade Lin for Blake ever. I wouldn't trade for Blake for a dollar. Blake's mom wouldn't trade for Blake. no. lol. Seriously though that would be a bad trade man.
