And you're the reason I personally hate LOHs in this forum. 0 logic, no justification with no stats, bunch of random annoying condescending statements, only agenda is to whine and complain about Lin/Lin fans.

Personally I think Lin has easily fulfilled his contract simply by the virtue of us making the playoffs. I'm looking at wins, and only 3 teams with better record than us have cheaper PGs.

You're right, I don't know any of what's going on within the team. None of us do really(including you and a lot of the analysts, so no point in telling me I'm wrong, just disagree and be civil about it), I can only speculate on what I see on TVs and interviews. Its a given that most of what we say on here is just personal opinion. Sarcasm is not needed.

I will say that I compare a lot of what McHale does to how Thibs runs Chicago, as I like how their guys really play for each other and how he gets all he can from each player.

They all mention how he's tough on them, but you can see that it pays off and makes them better pros. And I always wonder how this team would've shaped out through the season if we had him as the coach, probably a 5th seed, and at least a 2nd round exit. Defense would have been ironed out, Players would be held accountable from day 1, we'd be setting alot more screens, etc.

"Personally, I think," type statements are what you just claimed to hate about the other side in your first paragraph...

I hope he becomes a great PG for the Rockets, but I have serious doubts about his abilities. Hopefully he can prove me wrong. That said, I am no problem starting him over Beverly at this time.

I would be more worried about power forward.

At the very least, Lin is serviceable. I like the Harden-Lin-Beverly rotation and feel all three are young, decent at least, and still have upside.

I honestly think some of you have to separate the fans and hype away from the actual play on court. His per36 is a very respectable 15/7. I think even the biggest haters and fanatics should agree that 15/7 per 36 is pretty solid.

His per 36 is 15/7 and 3 turnovers, 2 steals. Outplayed his contract? Arguable yes but not laughable? Lots of ppl on this board still make it out like he played like some D-leaguer this year.

Outplayed his endorsements $$$? I would say no. But who the hell cares about that?

Lin has the best "hands rating" of all Rockets according to 82games.com. (a measure of his abiliy to handle the rock) His defensive rating is better than Parsons. (82games.com). Hollinger also said he has a high defense rating using his calculations. How did you come to the conclusion that Lin's handle and defense were bad, other than looking at him. All of us need data to bring our opinions in line with reality.

The "McHale" effect on Lin is so overblown. If Lin is so mentally weak that he can't handle that sort of pressure, then he should go... I like Lin but he is no way above an occasional benching. No I don't like some of McHale's well-documented Asik/Lin benchings but I doubt they have destroyed their confidence. If anything, it should piss them off and inspire them.

I don't think of Lin as a starting PG under the Rockets system. I thought the starting PG was Harden to tell you the truth. I don't think you can get around the fact that Harden's and Lin's skills overlap; therefore, you have to stagger their minutes as much as possible. An alternative is to have Lin start as a 6th man, or trade him sometime next year or after next year.

I watched almost all Rockets' games this season, and this is my honest conclusion. By the way, Harden is not ready to take Rockets beyond 1st round of playoffs with his weak D and lack of leadership.

Lin is second to none on fast breaks, and when he has a free rein to play a PG, he passes really well. Lin's weakness is he lacks a variety on his offensive moves, and he looks to pass too much, and does not have a shooter's mentality yet. Also, his confidence level seems to vary too much. I feel like when he shoots, he brings down the ball too low before raising the ball to shoot, which leaves too much room for error. All I know is his shooting motion should be simpler and shorter, if you know what I mean: just take the ball up and let it fly.

What does that even mean? We need max-level guys at every position?

Especially if they make 8 mill a year?

This is the same problem NY had last year. Would you sign a Felton or Kidd-like player for half the money? Are the Kinicks realistic contenders?

Good points. His play his year has been solid. Mos opposition commentator 's describe Lin as a solid PG. I have watched every game this year on League Pass.

According to 82games.com, Lin has the highest passing and "hands rating" of all Rockets players with 13 and 24 ratings, respectively. Harden, Bev and Parsons all have significantly lower ratings than Lin. Either 82games.com data sucks, or there is a persuasive argument that Lin should be allowed to handle the ball more.

So have I. Some are totally off and say Lin is not quick. But overall other commentators say he plays pretty decently. It's those ESPN guys who don't really watch Lin too much who keep on perpetuating inaccurate statements. I feel pretty comfortable saying this because I watched almost all Rockets games this season, of which fact I am not too proud. :)
