Why is everyone acting like the Heat will win it all this year? Almost every article I read that mentions the Heat or Lebron, it sounds like the league might as well hand them the trophies now.

Weren't they the favorites in 2011? Oh that's right, it was only the first season their Big 3 played together.

If they face the Spurs in Finals and Spurs win, Lebron will really hate Texas. But if Heat loses, it will be because they didn't show effort, not because their opponent was good. Lol.

The only reason they lost is because lebron sucked in the finals. If he had played to his average level they would have won.

So you created your own narrative of what you think the media will say, and then you're preemptively mocking the media for it. Nice.

The defending champs and the team with the second longest win streak of all time is overrated? Good to know.

To address this initial question, I think the following might contribute:

    1. They've been the best team for the regular season
    2. They've been the best team for the last 2 months
    3. They've been the most impressive team in the playoffs thus far
    4. They are far healthier than the top competition in the west
    5. They are the defending champions

Outside of that, I have no idea why anyone would consider them the favorites.

I think they're probably acting that way because the Heat are going to win it all this season.

Do you not watch the NBA? Barring some injury they will win. Period. It's pretty obvious.

    I love the NBA..but I have 2 major complaints:

    1. The season is too long if you're going to allow more teams into the playoffs than you exclude. No reason to play 82 games if you're still gonna have 16 teams out 30 in the playoffs. Either have fewer games OR put a premium on playoff spots by going down to 12 total (6 in each conference).

    2. (Relevant to this thread) For the most part, you can tell every year who is going to win the championship. Occasionally you have a team sneak up and surprise you. But for the most part, I can tell you who will be in the Finals before the season starts, barring some ridiculous injury. Far more so than in NFL, MLB or NHL. You still have a huge number of NBA franchises who not only haven't won a ring, but haven't even been to the Finals in their history. Unless Lebron or Wade goes down, the chances of someone beating the Heat are super-slim.

Is this guy a Spurs fan or something? Pre-Westbrook going down, there was at least a chance the Heat lose. Now? I'm going to say chances are the Heat are going to sweep the Finals regardless of who they face.

    Overrated?! Based on what?

Best player on the best team.
I did mention best team - best record in the NBA.
    27 game win streak
40-2 in their last 42 games
    Current 11 game win streak

I understand people don't like the Heat, I was one of those guys too but overrated? I'm failing to see it.

I hate the Heat but they're gonna blow by everybody through to the Finals. I hope somebody stops them in the Finals.

Their odds probably decreased with the WB injury.

It might have something to do with them being 35-1 in the last 36 games Lebron has played. There's still no guarantee that they will win it all, but it is very hard to imagine a team beating them four times out of seven right now.

    REPPED!
This is the power of thinking in action...whatever you think it seems so true and logical...If Miami dont win then the backward bias will come into action and everyone will find some reason to believe that it was very logical if not expected that they have lost in finals ...we live in unpredicatable and illogical world but to think so of it is so unsettling thus we invent narratives to believe the world is safe and predictable...

. It sucks that they gangbanged their way to a title in their 20s but it is what it is. And what it is..is the best team talent can buy.
