I'm convinced that Wade Phillips drafts defensive players based solely off of their last names. Mercilus, Swearinger, Watt.

He definitely drafts based on relentless motor.

I can see mixed emotions over this pick...I personally like it. I like Swearinger's style of play. And i like the fact that he talks a lot of crap on the field. We need that cocky swagger.

There were so many first round talents available that I strongly believe there was no one that thought they should trade up. I am sure all the teams after us believed the player they wanted would still be there.

reminds me of one Daunte Robinson the way he hits...has a rep though of getting flags...he may hit, but in Goodell's powderpuff league, he must be careful...However, playing long side Ed Reed, he will get the right dose of nasty, and savvy-ness

Guy wears 36 to honor Sean Taylor, who is his football idol. If he plays like him we are good to go

I predict he will have 2 helmet to helmet hits next season, at least.

wow...that feels like the reporter just made it up. I doubt seriously that Swearinger played at SC without knowing he was playing in the SEC.

Minnesota took NE's spot right behind us, and gave up a 2-3 and 4......
