Do you think he "flat out sucked" in La Liga, Segunda, EPL, and the Super Lig. Everybody knows they don't play any defense at all in the Eredivisie. Maybe during the glory years (late 80's and 90's) of the Eredivisie you could make the case for a top league but now they just a sellers league where defense is an afterthought.
i'm not your bro and i'm not mad. i know mexico will still qualify with ease even after the ref screw job against honduras and the usa. it's soccer and nothing is taken for granted. goals are always at a premium which is why penalties are so important. the non-calls are just as influential as the calls, that's all i'm saying. you can't dismiss one but not the other. and i see both of you failed to respond to my nani example. again how convenient.
My response is human error. You beat it by not playing poorly. Everyone misses calls but at the end of the day, whoever executes better reaks the benefits. USA accomplished there game plan(leaving with a point) while getting absolutely trounced.
We're "morons" (name calling, someone's losing an argument, aren't we?) because we have made a point about international vs. club play.
never mind. There's no point in continuing this discussion. Next US game is at the end of May against Belgium in Cleveland. Then, June 2 against Germany @ RFK Stadium. Those will be the warmups going into the 3 June qualifiers (June 7 @ Jamaica, June 11 vs. Panama in Seattle, and June 18 vs. Honduras in Salt Lake City).
He's saying the right things - I hope everyone can work out whatever differences they have because they're certainly a much better team with Donovan playing.
If he is fit he is our best most creative player, and he adds pace. The team needs his skills desperatly. DD
Looks like Stuart Holden is playing again, on a short term loan to Sheffield Wednessday. 60 mins and then out the last two. He has time to get fit and maybe a call up. DD
Hey No wait you are right. The trully exceptional players in the eredivisie usually succeed in the other top competitions (Huntelaar, Suarez, Affelay, and before them Sneijder, Robben etc). AZ is playing terrible this year (even though they have a great coach). Altidore is a nice player, but he is not one of the better players in the eredivisie, every year there are a couple of nice players with the bad teams that score a lot of goals, but that doesn't mean much. I'm not a big fan of Altidore, he has some skills but he lacks a lot of skills. If used correctly he is a servicable player.
Exactly how I feel, I would prefer our forwards to have better footwork, skills and speed. Not a big fan of the hold and distribute guys if they are not that great at distributing, or holding. DD
You know what every World Cup needs? An official instrument. http://www.kckrs.com/the-official-brazil-2014-instrument-is-called-the-caxirola-is-way-better-than-the-vuvuzela/
Klinsmann Calls 26 Players to Begin Training Camp For Matches in May and June While I've not been Donovan's biggest supporter during his vacation, he's been playing well and it's kind of shocking not to see him called in...especially when you consider that he did call back Stuart Holden who's barely played in 2 years. I'm ecstatic to see Holden back in the Stars and Stripes, but leaving LD out is kind of baffling. Same goes for calling in Brek Shea. He hardly saw the pitch for Stoke and Klinsmann recently called him out on it. Yet, here he is.
Six keepers! Klinsmann said earlier he planned to bring Stu in because he hasn't played a lot recently, he thinks being part of the camp will help him get back into shape. He may be doing the same thing with Shea since he got injured right after moving to Stoke.
Apparently Hall will only be there for the Germany and Jamaica games. Davis, Hall added to US roster What bothers me is that Klinsmann is apparently setting up a different set of rules for Donovan. He says that Donovan has to fight his way back into the team...which I completely agree with. But to use 2 spots on players that have hardly played, saying that he wants to give them a chance to get in shape seems like all he's doing is trying to send Landon a message that he's not wanted. Kind of reminds me of 1998 when Steve Sampson left John Harkes out of the squad. How'd that go?
Klinnsman is just being an ass to Donovan and showing him who is boss, probably makes him play in the Gold Cup and all will be forgiven. I hope it doesn't bite us in the butt to lose our best creative player. DD
Well, in any case, win these 3 and we can probably go ahead and pencil in a trip to Brazil next summer. It's really what they need to do. I'd prefer qualification not rest entirely on the last 2 games (@ Costa Rica which you know will be absolutely nasty after the 1st game with the...and home for Mexico).
I doubt he gets minutes at all. He doesn't join the team until after the June 1 game against Columbus for the June 2 game against Germany and then goes back directly after the Jamaica game.
In case you forgot here is why we need Donovan ! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/K2SSZfLiO70" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> DD
