What blows me away is that a rookie who was playing in Russia when the season started has now changed the entire complexion of this series -- first through his inspiring play and now through giving Westbrook the whack half of America wanted to give him. Not very often that sort of thing happens.

Everyone knows that if you are playing hurt...especially with a hurt knee that your body can naturally over compensate. It's entirely possible that he could tear it.

    Kobe had a heel injury.

I also remember when Andre had his hamstring issue that the doctor over at Texanstalk went in depth about playing with such an injury could put stress on other areas of the body.

It was uncalled for, but not a dirty play that we could've foreseen this type of outcome from WB.

It's an Artest-like knee injury, he'll be back soon probably but not for this series.

If it was very serious, he wouldn't have played the rest of the game. Other players in this game could've been much more dangerous, but the way WB reacted was far more severe and drew more attention. And don't believe it was the severity of what Patrick did, but more so Westbrook's anger problems.

I'll agree if Harden plays off ball and Lin is allowed to run the point Not likely to happen though. Otherwise, you're comparing apples to oranges, no?

Man, why would any Rockets fan hate their own player for playing hard o_O? The injury to Westbrook is unfortunate but as a fan I assume you want your players to go all out to try to win the game.

Watch the video again.... Westbrook wasn't protecting anything. He was dribbling it up normally and nonchalantly. Beverley picked the right spot to go for the steal as Westbrook stepped with his left leg, exposing the ball in his left hand. And you said it, Beverley lunged right at THE BALL. Had he missed and crashed into the scorer's table.. well, that's on him isn't it?

Again, you see this all the time in basketball. The only difference is the ball-handler usually has the where-with-all to turn his body, protect the ball and, if a defender acts like he's going to attempt a steal, then they usually pick the ball up and cover it as the whistle blows.

You say this is a play you see from someone not knowing how to play organized bball. I see one player who plays all out until a whistle blows and doesn't concede anything and one player who took his focus and attention away too soon. Because of the latter... that to me is what caused the injury as it caused Westbrook to turn his body too late and throw his leg out as a "shield" for the ball.

But like you, I don't want to beat a dead horse... so I guess we will agree to disagree.

IF you call a timeout before inbounding the ball, you can elect to automatically advance the ball past half court. This happens all the time in closing seconds of games.

I think he is currently a league average PG, with a ceiling of all star (in a good year). I don't see him being a perennial all star.
