Wow, was this really because of the collision with Beverley (cause that's all that was, even if Barkley or other fools in the media try to say otherwise)??

I wasn't saying he SHOULD play through it... just saying he COULD. And, if you read my whole post, I said that they wouldn't have him play through it so they can take care if it now without the possibility of causing more damage.

But, tearing a ligament from it.... hardly.

LOL. Had this been a fake timeout Beverley would have taken himself out of the play by crashing into the scorers table. Beverley lunged full speed at the ball with a horrible angle. He was coming from Westbrook's right side, with the ball protected by Westbrook's body, and lunged straight at it. He didn't lunge to the front of Westbrook then change directions to go for the ball. That's normally how a steal works in that spot. If he had done that and been coming from the side of the court I'd have no problem with the play.

I love Beverley(he played incredible for us) and think he was just pumped up for the game. But that steal attempt is exactly the type you see playing against guys who literally never played organized basketball. It's like they don't see your body in between them and the ball.

Anyways, not gonna spend a bunch of time defending the OKC position here. But if the roles were reversed we'd be going nuts on the OKC guy.

Most of the time you cannot tell if your body is warm. It is like sprained an ankle. You walk it off and resume playing a few minutes later. Only found out you cannot walk the next day.

I take no joy in seeing Westbrook out after a totally classless and bone-headed play by Beverley. The timeout had clearly been whistled when he went for that "steal." Really sucks for the Thunder.

Whats the difference between a bunch of idiots saying he deserved it an you saying good job Beverley?

I think Westbrook is a punk and I think what Beverley did was ok because we have all seen pg's go ahead and take the ball to the basket after they looked like they were going to call a timeout. What Beverley did was a hard hustle play and he shouldn't be faulted at all for the injury, things happen.

But I wouldn't congratulate him for injuring Westbrook, I hate to see it and I would rather beat okc with him in the lineup.

Oklahoma City point guard Russell Westbrook has suffered a slight cartilage tear in his right knee and a surgical procedure in the next 48 hours will determine the possibility of his return before the end of the playoffs.

Westbrook suffered the tear of his lateral meniscus in the second quarter of Game 2 of the Thunder's first-round playoff series with the Houston Rockets after Rockets guard Patrick Beverley lunged at Westbrook to make a steal as the Thunder guard signaled for a timeout.

Westbrook is "irate," with Beverley, a league source told Yahoo! Sports.

The meniscus tear is considered to be minimal – perhaps 2 percent of the meniscus, one source said – and Westbrook's recovery could be weeks instead of months, if the doctor decides to simply "clean up" the meniscus. A full repair of the meniscus would likely mean a three-month recovery for Westbrook.

The Thunder and Westbrook don't want to risk anything with the long-term stability of his knee, sources said, and aren't pushing for the short-term solution over the longer-term procedure.

Westbrook, 24, is an All-Star and one of the league's top point guards. His absence is a severe blow to the Thunder's chances of repeating as Western Conference champions.

The Thunder hold a 2-0 series lead over the Rockets, with Games 3 and 4 moving to Houston on Saturday and Monday.

Westbrook has never missed a game in his five-season NBA career, playing in a possible 439 of 439 regular-season and playoff games. He averaged 23.2 points and 7.4 assists during the regular season and is averaging 24 points and seven assists in the two games against the Rockets.

    LOL.

    Yeah, watch the replay.

Beverly is already lunging towards the ball by the time the whistle blows.

    Clean hustle play, unfortunate result.

He hadn't signaled for the timeout yet when Beverley took off for the steal. I'm sorry that he is hurt but he needs to get over it, this was a game accident and nothing more.

The move may have been a little disrespectfull, but Beverley was going for the ball. He wasn't trying to kill Westbrooks knee.
