Wings will never have the defensive impact that bigs do.

Sorry Lebron, you didn't deserve it.

I managed to get DPOY at 2k with my point guard, based on steals.

Lebron is becoming the guy everyone wanted him to be. For so many years, he was hard-working, yet too playful. Mature in his interviews, but immature on the bench. A physical monster (and usually best player on the floor), yet not dominant.

Now, he is hungry. I mean, HUNGRY. It's scary. I think about those signs in Cleveland, "We are all witnesses." It's amazing. We are all able to watch every stage of this development and I think are still having a hard time acknowledging the long process which it takes to get on such a level. He will win DPOY and MVP next season. When it is all said and done, he just may give Jordan a run for his money.

if those are the criteria, then Hibbert should win it. he blocked basically identical amount of shots per game as Duncan, in fewer minutes, at a slower pace, while anchoring a top 2 defense.

but i think minutes matter, just like missing games matters - and it's not all about contesting shots.

Yeah. It is. It's hard to wrap your mind on what level he is already at and what level he can get to. He has every opportunity to be the greatest ever. Do I think he will reach that? Hell if I know.

Not to mention, he is built in such a way that even after his athleticism starts to decline, he will still be more athletic than 90% of the league! By then, he will have a much more refined game. I can see Lebron playing in his 40's and still performing at a high level. Which, if he does that, he will be top 5 in a lot of statistical categories.

LeBron has done some amazing things in the playoffs in the past. When he's focused on it, he's arguably the best defender in the NBA.

But this is a regular season award, it's "who did the best job", not "who can do the best job", and I don't think LeBron should even be a top 5 candidate this season.

This pretty much sums up my feelings towards it. Although, that hasn't stopped Kobe from getting in on All-Defensive teams!

That wasn't the argument. I think Lebron was certainly vague in his comment (that tends to happen when you speak with emotion instead of your head).

The argument was no one has been able to guard all 5 positions. Magic, although was not able to stay in front of the quicker guys, was able to be that body you could put on all 5 positions.

When comparing the two defensive players, I think most would agree that Lebron is able to have a much more positive effect in guarding all 5.

Example: One day he is able to shut down P. Gasol, and the very next he might be able to shut down D. Rose. Yes, shut down.

Worthy or not, the man is going to have EVERYTHING he desires in life and still chooses to crying about an award?

    Pity this fool.

Logic is, apparently, a mysterious thing these days.

The assertion was that LBJ is the only one who has guarded all 5 spots. Magic guarded all 5 spots. I suspect there are others, like Rodman, who have guarded all 5 spots. Thus, the assertion is wrong.

Whether Magic is as good a defender as LBJ is another question (with an answer of no), but he did guard all 5 positions.
