but Hopkins or any great WR wasnt going to be when the Texans selected in the 2nd round, so trading back in the 1st round, to trade back up to pick Hopkins in the 2nd round? WR was the #1 need for the texans, and it seems they really like Hopkins, and he is ready to play.

Exactly, It would be different if it was a early 2nd rounder, but its 16 picks into the second. No way he would have been there by then.

Terrific pick and great value...surprised he stuck around after GB picked...he is going to be an excellent player on this team...maybe not the blazer people are looking for these days...but he is NFL ready...GO TEXANS...

Was drinking in downtown NYC and so many Jets /Giants fans loved our pick...go TEXANS...

This. Who else was willing to trade up? We know about Minny. Would Hopkins have been there at #52 (the Vikings 2nd rounder)? I doubt it. I think Hopkins was the #1 receiver on the Texans board, above Travon Austin. They take the Minny trade and maybe they're taking the 5th or 6th best WR (we'll see how many others go tomorrow) and they weren't willing to do that. Not when they need an immediate starter at the position and the guy they rate the best is available.

Fair point. I can't complain about the pick. About as blue chip as you're gonna get in this draft. And like you said, he fills a need and can play right away.

I hope it's either a ILB or nose tackle, teams were running up the middle against us fairly easy last year.

2nd round: i'd go with margus hunt. wade can be his disciple and slowly give him mario williams' old position. the guy has more speed than many safeties.

    3rd: Vance Mcdonald.

the other 3rd: I'd go with a meaty DT to mix it up with Mitchell, someone like john jenkins.

I believe the Battle Red blog suggested we could get an OLB and move Reed to ILB

I like Arthur Brown, Margus Hunt, be fine with a RT but I don't know any, same for safety, or, the big wild card, a QB.

There are a handful of really interesting QB prospects on the board. If Kubiak likes one and they get to the Texans, I would be absolutely fine with taking one.

I want that. Reed plays the run very well and can cover ground. He has shown to be only fair at pass rushing. Him and Cushing in the middle gives me warm fuzzy feelings about solidifying the interior.

We can get a very nice pass rusher considering what's avail now.

Yes and no. Wade needs 3 quality OLBs for his OLB rotation.

My best guess is that the Texans with their second round pick will draft a DE or OLB. Someone who will help with the pass rush, the cornerstone of Wade 5-2 defense.

S would be dark horse candidate for the second pick. Wade uses 3 S sets and Keo can not be part of that. My expectation though is that the Texans will use one of its third round picks on a S.

He'll be gone before our turn, I think they'll go OL in the second. Then best available linebacker with the first third, and safety with the compensation pick choosing between Rambo and Mathieu. This is gonna be a very interesting day

It's hard to guess where they will go. What does Kubiak really think of Newton at RT?

I'm not sold that they MUST get an ILB early either. I think their 3rd safety might be more important than the second ILB behind Cushing.

Regardless, they still have players that are all but starters that they HAVE to draft. They must get a 3rd safety and they must get a linebacker (either ILB or OLB and move Reed in)

If they see a starter at safety in the 2nd, I'd take him. He can be your 3rd this year and then let you move on from Manning after the season to save cap room.

Of course, if there is a DE you love, that's another spot you are going to have to replace and I'm of the opinion that they need a DT.

I believe we gonna go LB in second round and then first 3rd round pick we might go NT / S depends on whos available.

and if we go NT in second then its S / LB. I think we might go this route bc. we dont need any quick impact LB right away. so we might take that in 3rd round.

Guys listed as DT would be NT's for us in a 3/4, but we do play some 4/3. Jessie Williams, Johnathan Hankins and John Jenkins are beasts, but it's said that Wade prefers his NT's to be quicker, to get through gaps off the snap. So, he would probably prefer Kawann Short.

I pretty much like all the guys except Armstead and that's only because I haven't hear of him yet.
