Only with Lin can you extrapolate based on small sample sizes. And if you disagree with me, I'm going to call you a racist, and you're going to like it.
Funny thing is you believe what is said here at clutchfans even remotely effects Jeremy in anyway. I guarantee he does not care one bit if "many of rockets fans are simply idiots." Not sure if you have followed sports long, but what fans want does not dictate what the organization decides to do.
I see Beverley as a solid backup, Lin may fit in as a long term starter, if he keeps on improving. Lin is trying hard to fit in with Harden, and he has been successful in that to an extent. I could see a bigger role for Lin and Beverley too,if we are able to acquire a more experienced 4,provided if they play consistently well. Harden would have to play off the ball more often in such a situation.
Harden is not going to play off the ball. That is not his strength. Have you seen him w/o the ball? Lin will need to continue to adjust his game, along with any other guard, not named CP3.
This happens anytime the backup point guard has a good game or two. Clutchfans immediately jumps on the bandwagon and calls for the starter to leave. Then when the backup is the starter and starts to show flaws, they gush over his backup as long he is competent. It frankly is sort of prompted by the organization as well since Morey seems to have the exact mentality and usually trades or when the backup's contract is up give them a long term deal that out lasts the current starter. Beverly is very good but frankly, I still don't see him as a starter, but then again with an offense like this where they have Harden dominate the ball he probably could be Houston's version of that guy in Miami who is the starting PG in name only.
Honest truth? I don't think either of these PGs will be here long term. The only one guaranteed to be here long term is Harden...I wouldn't be surprised to see Harden being our only current player in the starting lineup in a few years. Asik will probably be used as a trade piece to help us get a star PF. And I don't think Morey will offer Lin another contract after this one is up.
Oh and possibly Parsons if we offer him a good contract. He is going to be getting PAID if we fail to resign him.
How about we just continue to keep Lin as the starter and Bev as the backup. I like both players, they are both young and are bound to improve
True. I don't think there is a player I love more than Beverly on this roster. The guy takes **** from no one, and I mean no one. There is no one who plays every possession as hard as he does. These kinds of threads though are only setting him up for more hate when he has bad games as eventually will. Can he be the long term solution at point guard ? It's possible, but let's give it some more time eh ? Why not just be happy that we have two very good players with upside at the position. This just means there is greater probability that one of them will eventually pan out.
WTF kind of Rockets fan are you? You think all these pieces we acquired in the last year will be dealt? And the the longest tenured Rocket could possibly be gone too? They played one freakin year together, my god can you practice patience?
I doubt Beverley can play like this in long term. Making suicide moves and making all opponent teams to hate him.
Only problem is Lin is not being developed. He can improve himself on shooting, but if he is not being used right on the court, then his value to the team is very little. A PG is only good if he is allow to handle the ball, but we know that Harden handles the ball more than Lin. Not to mention that his backup get more quality minutes than he did most of the season.
