People say McHale coached well last game, but not really. Every single game this team goes in with a coaching disadvantage mismatch He lost the game when after halftime, the game was tied, and his terrible substitutions made the game into a blowout after a 13-0 Thunder run.
Beverly got into foul trouble... Lin was hurt, forcing him to go to Aaron Brooks who hasn't played much this season. You can blame McHale for a lot, but not for that.
This is completely incorrect and you know it. Had Lin not gone down and Beverly stayed out of foul trouble in the 3rd (on 2 really bad calls), that run might not have happened. Actually, that run was more on the bad shooting after halftime than anything. The looks were there but the shots were not falling. One thing that is being overlooked is McHale's decision to go home during the 2 days between games. I think that was genius and was a big reason they played better last night.
Playing AB was a stupid decision. Harden can bring up the ball just fine. Delfino can help in that regard too. But I did like the change in the line-up.
Dude made risky definitive decisions and nearly pulled out a victory with a starter out, and you're still complaining. Come on now. Maybe you don't like what he does night in and night out, and maybe you don't agree with some of the things he does, but if you don't like what he did last night you just choose not to subjectively. Also I agree about the trip home in between games being smart.
I still don't get how so many posters here give all the praise on the players, and all the blame on the coaches. That's not how it works! I thought McHale was the better coach last night and the talent disparity is what cost us the game
So who was going to play the other guard? Beverly had four fouls. Lin was hurt. We needed either a PG or SG. Anderson and Harden? Garcia and Harden>
We are not talking about winning or losing. Every team can win games. The complaint we have been complaining (if you have read), is his coaching style or lack of it. He does not has a system, questionable rotation, and the ISO plays he called a system. Beside the 4, the Rockets is also missing a mid-range. There is no mid range and he has been the coach for 2 seasons. For McHale, it is either the 3 or the fast break layout.
But why are you JUST blaming McHale for This? That's what Morey wants AND that's how our superstar plays? Not every coach can win this many games. he's not perfect but when he coaches a good game, people should give him props
It's by Chris Broussard, who's rarely been right about anything in this league. I wouldn't put too much stock into it.
That's why McHale is not a good coach. If front office can dictate how he should coach a team, then why is he any good? Might as well put Clutch the bear. The Rocket is a talented team (team, not 5 individuals), even without McHale, this team will able to win this many if not more.
McHale made an emotional decision and pulled Asik out after he had a dunk attempt blocked by Ibaka. Then the lane opened up and OKC starting getting and1's and easy buckets. Other than that ONE mistake, McHale and the coaching staff thoroughly out-coached OKC.
AB was a defensive liability but the problem was he had no idea what to do out there. Its bad enough that AB isn't a pure PG but the rockets run no plays and just go out and play...its hard to get acclimated to that just in the playoffs when you've only played a couple of garbage time minutes with the bench only.
One point that hasn't been mentioned is that scottie brooks is a terrible coach as well. It wouldn't come as a surprise if mchale were to outcoach him even though he's a terrible coach himself. In other words, one crap coach (brooks) was outcoached by a slightly less idiotic coach (mchale)
