Another intepretation is from Morey himself. In one of his tweets, he said something along the lines of : up and down for our young players is a good thing, because if they are consistently ok there's no chance of winning in palyoff. Our young guns can be crazy good sometimes.

I think it's more of the thought of rather losing 30 points one night, and win a little another night than consistently lose a few points every game.

What stat boy misses is the fact that we still have to score against a stacked defense that forces us to finish in track against two shot blockers, one better than anyone else! So that variance is bogus!

Morey should just keep quiet and let Mchale coach. "Variance" isn't the reason we got our azzes handed to us, it's that useless european style of basketball that's never successful in the postseason. Mchale can only do so much. Since its Morey's idea to play this way, he might wanna stfu.

    More of this yesterday:

I almost feel bad for Sefolosha.

This also goes back to the Rockets defensive game-plan being very solid in game 1.

Of course this won't work so well if Scott Brooks comes to gripes that replacing Sefolosha with a competent shooter might be a good idea, though I guess there's hope that he won't. :)

Thabo shot the 3 at a higher rate than anyone on the Rockets this year.

And he's shooting 40% in the series. Seems competent to me.

I didn't realized he's improved so much these last couple of years. Still, I don't anybody would consider him a good shooter. Making 4/10 threes when most of your looks are wide open isn't much of an accomplishment.

You see, Sefolosha usually only shoots when, in-fact, wide-open and I imagine his shooting-percentage is significant lower when even semi-contested, which is obviously what the Rockets want to do: help off Selfolosha to keep Westbrook and Durant out of the paint, then close out to Thabo as well as possible. If he occasionally gets a wide-open look, oh well.

Thabo's shooting percentage doesn't reflect the amount of times an initial drive is cut off by help off of Sefolosha, with Thabo not taking the (semi)-open look, nor the possessions where the pass to Thabo doesn't even get made and the Rockets get a steal or charge by helping off Thabo.

So, while your point is well taken, I still feel very confident that the Rockets' defensive strategy is the right one. Thabo jumpshots are a good poison to pick when defending OKC.

We need variance on our offense not players... Our offense is perdictable to say the least. The only way you can be perdictable is to have a low post presence like Dream. We don't so the coaches need to become less perdictable in calling offensive sets.
    1. Pull Ibaka away from the basket with Chandler... - Done
    2. Then misuse Perkins in the PnR
    3. Make Durant chase Harden through screens

OKC is anticipating Harden's bounce pass on the PNR very well. Time to change that.

I think he is saying we need home run hitters who may strike out vs lead off guys who hit singles all day.
