Please pay more attention. The left is definitely in favor women's rights and stopping unequal treatment of homosexuals no matter whether they happen in the U.S. or a Islamic theocratic govt. like Iran. Please note that the left has long been for less favorable status for nations like Saudi Arabia. It was the Bush's that were good friends with them. The left was no friend of Musharraf in Pakistan either despite the right claiming that Pakistan was such an ally. Yet poor ATW must not have bothered to look at his own protest sites about the women protesting the treatment of women in Fundamentalist Islamic societies. One of those groups protesting was a communist group. Last time I checked the communists were pretty far left. The left is also in favor of not stereotyping and generalizing which happens to Muslims as well. Speaking out against that is not the same as defending poor treatment of women and homosexuals.
Bc that one write-up completely discredited everything he said in this thread. To me it read like he was answering all of texx's questions/concerns actually.
Still doesn't revoke the fact that Americans were not afraid of the Arab/Middle Easterner/Muslim until the U.S. decided to get involved with Iran in the 50s. Muslim/American relations went downhill from there.
http://www.nj.com/hudson/index.ssf/2013/04/jersey_city_man_arrested_on_tr.html Jersey City man charged with having explosives on train 8 days before Marathon bombings: cops More than a week before three people were killed and more than 260 people were injured in the Boston Marathon bombings, a Jersey City man carried two homemade explosives on an NJ Transit train, authorities say. Police also found explosive devices in the Newport Parkway home of Mykyta Panasenko, 27, Jersey City police said today. According to a criminal complaint, Panasenko is charged with having "two destructive devices, specifically improvised explosive devices (IEDs) constructed from a cylinder containing Pyrodex (black powder)" on April 5, the criminal complaint says. He is also charged with recklessly creating widespread risk of injury or damage to a building which normally contains 25 or more persons by constructing the explosive devices, according to the charges filed by the FBI-led Joint Terrorism Task Force and the Port Authority Police Department. The FBI did not return calls for more details and no one answered the door at Panasenko's home this afternoon. Although the arrest was made more than a week ago, it was not reported by authorities. The Jersey Journal learned about the incidents when Panasenko appeared in Central Judicial Processing court to hear the charges Wednesday. Authorities also charged Panasenko with having two improvised explosive devises at 4 p.m. on April 7 aboard an NJ Transit train leaving Hoboken and bound for Suffern, N.Y., the complaint says. Earlier this month the Jersey City Police Department's Bomb Squad responded to the home of Panasenko after getting information from the New York Police Department and the FBI, Jersey City Police Deputy Chief Peter Nalbach said this afternoon. Inside the residence police found "materials that may have been used to make an explosive device," Nalbach said, adding that the information came from a tip provided by someone who knows Panasenko. The complaint charging Panasenko with having explosive devices at his home was signed on April 15, the day of the Boston Marathon bombings, and the complaint charging him with having explosive devices on the train was signed on April 16.
Text is text. Problem isn't Islam, problem is poverty and a lack of hope. Until people realize this it only gets worse and worse. How come terrorists never come from Malaysia? Imagine that, a muslim country without extremism. It's also the highest standard of living of any Muslim country in the world. Go figure.
The left criticizes people, not ideology. The left doesn't criticize Catholicism. It criticizes the church (as does some on the right). The left doesn't criticize Islam, it criticize Muslim clerics who keep their people down. Understand the difference? And while you complain that Christians don't murder enough in the name of religion to be considered violent, let's not forget the 17 million people killed in the name of missionaries here in the western hemisphere alone.
So when does the war on Muslims start? Are we talking total eradication of the problem here? Bigtexxx - you going to need at least a billion bullets
Bigtexxx is now responsible for every crime committed in the state of texas. Man, he better get to jail quick.
How about those facts about Muslim communities in North America exposing terror plots? Those are actions.
Correct me if I'm wrong, cause I'm honestly not sure, but I think just years after the invention of Islam, the Muslims became war mongers and started conquering many lands in the name of Islam. So i think it's been waaaay more than 50 years. It's been a long while where Islam has led to aggression. The actual founder advocated for wars. I found that out in Religilous at least.
