Keep in mind PJ was the coach and Shaq & Kobe were the two best players in the NBA when it happened. Are they all returning for games 3 & 4?
His shooting has been off but didn't he have two trip dubs and hasn't LA's defense looked much better?
how is it helping now? They're 0-2. He had a triple double in the game Kobe played and the one that went to OT. You're acting like its a nightly thing
It's helping just as much as if Kobe were playing and Howard got injured for the year. They would be 0-2 as well. Only difference is they would probably give up more points a night than us.
yea team that went 28-12 to close the year wouldn't miss their best player. Some logic Btw Gasol is 0-14 now without Kobe. How do you justify that? He had Dwight and Nash next to him now
Let's see, $27 million in dead-weight salary that could have went to building around the bigs. Some athleticism and 3-point shooters would be nice. The Spurs are significantly better than the Lakers. They would have been favorites to win the series regardless of Kobe's health. What's the Lakers record this year WITH Kobe? Vs. teams over .500? Let me guess...it wouldn't have applied in the playoffs? Kobe's been abused in the playoffs two years in a row. He should feel fortunate about his injury.
It's because they always say a series doesn't start until someone wins on a road. I kind of agree with that, that's usually when series gets interesting.
Significantly better eh? Lakers went 28-12 and Spurs didnt how do you explain that? thats .700 ball for half a season when they got Nash back. I didnt know dropping 42 points is getting abused LOL gm 5 at OKC check
That saying is nonsense. When the higher seed starts 2-0 and wins game 3 on the road, the series is actually over, not just starting. On the other hand, if the Lakers hold serve and win at home in game 3, the series will have started and they won't be dead in the water. The saying makes sense when the first two games are split. D'Antoni is silly for applying it now.
Why did you ignore the rest of my post? How many of those 28 wins were against winning teams, teams that made the playoffs? These losses the Lakers are racking up are against the #3 seed in the NBA. 4-1 in the playoffs with multiple all-stars on your team and one of the highest payrolls in the NBA is an embarrassment. He also shot 42.6% against OKC. --- The way you use statistics is sad. It might work at your LG base, but people here can deduce things a bit further.
who cares? 28-12 is 28-12. The playoffs are an entirely different animal. THe spurs have been killin the league last 6 yrs, have all winning records on the road and yet NOTHING to show for it. not even a Finals appearance. The Lakers were peaking at the end of the season and getting better and better each game collectively
28-12 during a stretch in which they beat about 8 playoff teams. Let's use that .700 win-rate and make that the expectation in the playoffs against the #3 seed in the NBA? Yeah, LG kid for sure. That doesn't work here.
8-5 vs .500 teams Yea 61% winning percentage is bad vs teams with a winning record LOL You've made a fool of yourself twice now (previously stated Kobe got abused in playoffs when the last gm they played he outscored Durant 42-25) LMFAOO
Yes because Beating a team like the Jazz is the same thing as playing the Spurs, who are, once again, the #3 seed in the NBA. Keep trying to persuade the rest of us, though. Kobe is done, washed up, and a has been since 2010. Get over it. One game where he scored 42 points, he took 33 FG's, almost as much as his entire starting line-up combined. Something only Kobe could accomplish -- and lose by 20 points You keep trying and falling flat.
I see you didnt address - Gasol going 0-14 without Kobe in his playoff career in games played - Justifying your use of the word "abused" when Kobe dropped 42 in the last playoff game he played very nice Clutchfan member. Very nice
Kobe's 42 point game wasn't impressive. Only you think it is. It was far from a highlight. Him and his whole team was humiliated. 33 FGAs. Get that through your head. James Harden's 36/11/6 today on 9-24 shooting is more impressive. You won't find Rockets fans bringing it up next year. What is your problem? Melo was 11-24 yesterday and had 34 points, in a win too. These were easily more impressive. Why do I need to touch the Gasol argument? Did I ever say Gasol > Kobe? That has nothing to do with what's going on now. I do believe if you spend Kobe's $27m salary on adding talent to this Lakers team, they'd be better than they are with Kobe. Kobe without Gasol on his team is 0-2 in playoff series wins, so basically he has "nothing to show for it" either. Again, Kobe is very fortunate he suffered a season-ending/career-ending injury Would have been exposed as a defenseless chucker this year, probably in a sweep too.
