This isn't even a typo. He just completely missed the letter "u", otherwise it would have been "syupid" or "srupid". I'm starting to think he's playing a character on this forums just like Ronny. Except not as annoying and douchey as Ronny.
Regardless how you feel about this, the social networking generation is not exactly filled with the sharpest tools in the shed (and yes, I'm an 1980's baby so it's fair to say I count).
No harm done. I remember being happy with my first job. I didn't worry too much about pay since I didn't any have expenses at the time.
I do have to agree, I don't think it was stupid of him at all, he was for the most part negotiating. How can you not want a guy who is using his brain to move into a better situation, not necessarily just out there asking for all of your spare change at the gas station.
Did you read my post about his negotiating skills? That is not the way to do things. Only an idiot would think whining for a higher wage is the same as negotiating. Heres a clue to every young guy who wants to negotiate a higher pay. Just ask for it. Dont say stupid things like "i deserve one" when you have not even worked for the guy yet. Words like "deserve" should only enter he vocabulary once your boss sees you are not a complete r****d. Nor do you tell the prospective employer that the other company is willing to pay more within he first 3 sentences you utter to him. Honestly, that is really really dumb. Every half decent employer confronted with this kind of spoiled attitude will tell you to take a hike.
I deal with these kids everyday. Even the decent ones cannot resist the lure of their cellphones. Delivery guys normally make around $150-$200 day between wages and tips. Their normal gas bill is about $25 because we have a small delivery zone and most of it includes office buildings and apartment complexez. That means for a 10 hour double shift, they are making $17.50 an hour. Over a 40 hour work period, they make around $680. On top if this they get 8 meals (average per ticket is $9). Its $770 per week essentially, all cash. How many guys on cf make that much after taxes? And yet i constantly have guys quit on me because "its really stressful when theres a lot of deliveries, sorry bro"
Sorry my math is off. 150-200 works out to $150 a day after gas. So its actually $600 a week plus the meals. Comes out to $672 a week. Still pretty damn good imo
By the way, though I somewhat agree with the OP, am I the only one who found the first word in the thread title ironic?
I'm gonna agree with the OP, not that any previous generations are bright. He shouldn't call if he doesn't want the pay. You don't use McDonald's pay as an example because it's always busy making the work ****ty. Maybe he can't work at McDonald's because they do background checks. It's also better to talk about pay face to face. How can you complain about something you don't even have?
I'm confused, in the original post you're complaining about a person calling in about a cashier position and now you're rambling about a delivery job. Am I missing something?
