We all wish we could morph Lin and Bev together into one player ... seriously 2 guys to play one position on the court
I need to see a larger sample size of Bev's play before he should be declared starter. His energy and hustle is so prominent cause he plays fewer minutes and doesn't have to worry about getting fouled out. I don't know if he can keep that up for 30+ min over an entire season. If he can, then that's great. Just need a larger sample size before anyone can definitively say he should start over Lin. It's not like Lin is a finished product.
Beverly is too confident and aggressive and commits some silly fouls at times.... I like that he got into westbrook's head and hopefully this lasts throughout the series.... But Westbrook is a head case to begin who i can easily see get rattled by someone like Pb. Kobe or CP3 however would use Beverly's over aggressiveness to their advantage. Lin on the other hand is too timid and not aggressive enough. He needs some of Beverly's attitude on the court. It's okay jeremy, it's basketball not real life, you can man up a little sometimes and not think you're committing a sin.
This reminds me of when every Heat fan wanted Norris Cole to replace Chalmers last season when Cole played well for a few games... pretty similar situations actually... a starting PG that shows flashes of brilliances, but can be maddeningly inconsistent and a backup PG that plays hard with balls-to-the-wall scrappiness but limited talent.
Beverley fits perfectly into Harden/Mchale's system. That's all. Look at first half of this game, Lin totally became SG/spot up shooter instead of PG. Waste of talent here.
Forget Bev. What exactly has Lin shown, that shows he can our PG of the future? How about YOU calm down? You're about to be banned for 6 months anyways.
As good as Bev has played recently, he's not gonna be the starting PG. He is small and doesn't have much of an offensive game. Even defensively he wont do well against most bigger and stronger guards. Lin on the other hand has great size and speed and his offensive game is much more developed. Bev doesnt have the court vision nor the playmaking abilities that Lin has. Lin's upside is still extremely high if he can stay healthy but I wouldn't say the same for Bev. But honestly, I could really see Bev being our true big man and we could use the Bev-Lin-Harden combo a lot. Bev will always be a great backup because of his tenacity and hustle, but being a starter mandates you would have to maintain that while also being a playmaker and facilitator on offense. That is why Lin will be starting. But Bev had a Great great game tho, no doubt. Arguably the most effective player on our team
People are stupid asking to ship off Lin. We should be happy we have both these guys on our team to run the PG role. Imagine both of them with a legit training camp and a coaching staff that will work with both. Everyone likes each other on this team as well, that is a huge plus. This team has some great potential, whether we add another all-star or not this off-season.
