70? He was bad the entire first month. Then bad every third game after that.

Beverley just got his first opportunity as a starter and had 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists. Not to mention his defense being game changing.

Beverley has earned any opportunity he gets henceforth, and he will be getting plenty. Bev will and should be the starting point guard next season.

I love Patrick's hustle and defense but Jeremy is better imo at play making and offense , we needed him in the second half of the game, , despite what most of you think and especially when Harden and Chandler goes cold, also lets not forget the last regular season game against the Thunder , our beardsanity back court won us the game , it will happen again.

As a Lin fan, I watched this game tonight through the eyes of CF, and I was starting to be convinced that Beverly should start and Lin come off the bench as the 6th man ala Ginobilli or Crawford next year. I wouldn't be surprised if McHale declares in training camp that the starting PG position will be open. Lin will have to work hard this summer not just to refine his game but also to keep his starting job. And I hope his injury tonight won't delay his offseason program like it did last year.

No, but he'll be 25. He also won't be coming off of knee surgery and will have a full offseason to correct his many weaknesses. If he doesn't significantly improve next season then it's very likely that Lin is going to continue to be an average PG for the rest of his career.

Beverly is perfect of the bench, that's where his bread and butter should be from.

I still feel like Bev could be our starter and we would have been at the least 1-2 wins better. That defense and ability to rebound is so unique, and he seems to have the killer instinct that Lin has lacked this year, for the most part.

I hope Lin grows even more next year (which I think he will), but don't get it twisted - Patrick Beverley is a real threat to Lin's starting spot.

I agree..with the thread's premise, but Beverly has shown a different level of play at a point of high level of competition...we lost to Thunder playing at a high level...bc if they didnt match the Rockets intensity, they wouldve lost...the Thunder were shocked to see us play this hard...

Lin is going to be a really good player in this league...he still needs to learn how to protect his body...he takes too many charges and falls way too much in the paint...he needs to watch out a bit more...

I love Patrick Beverley. Most underrated pickup of the year.

He's been better than Lin in at least 5 games this year.

He was brilliant tonight.

And then, there's those other 70 odd games.

If playing like an MVP for his first 10 starts last year isn't enough and has everyone up in arms yelling "sample size!", let's at least see how Beverley does in 2 games before shipping Lin off for a sack of potatoes.

Jeremy needs to stay confident & aggressive at all times, it’s his biggest weakness. He needs to believe in himself & be decisive because when he's passive he's very ineffective. He has the tools but not the confidence.

He's fast. He has the quickest first step in the league. Morey himself said that he's the fastest accelerating player the Rockets have ever measured.

But yeah, I get the skepticism. He doesn't really have the explosiveness to fully capitalize on that speed so it often looks sub-par next to even Harden who really isn't that quick. Hopefully he can develop more explosiveness in the offseason.

bold prediction: Patrick Beverley will be ahead of Lin on the depth chart next season.

When you imagine the ideal ROLE PLAYER point guard, you would think Beverley. Defends, hustles, can hit the open shot. For Lin not to get jumped, he has to score. When he's not scoring you might as well have Beverley in there. I liked putting Lin at SG because it allowed him to be in attack mode more.

His first step is quicker than John Wall's. His top speed is good too but not nearly as fast as his accelerating step.

Cool story.

In Lin's first start he put up 28 points and 8 assists.

In Lin's second start he put up 23 points and 10 assists.

In Lin's third start he put up 38 points and 7 assists.

In Lin's fourth... we can keep going.

Not to mention winning them all, and turning around an entire franchise's season.

I will bet you $500 to the tipjar that unless traded, Jeremy Lin will be the starting point guard of the Houston Rockets next year.

Exactly. Beverley right now just has a bigger impact on the game. If Lin doesn't improve next season I see him becoming our sixth man.

That's the magic of Morey... We shipped off Brooks, Lowry and Dragic right before they signed a huge contract or started sucking... Brooks was never the same. We maxed out value for Lowry's bargain contract. Dragic signed a long one with a player option.

As he should. Lin has by no stretch of the imagination secured his place as the PG of the future for the Rox. Lin's a great guy but he just not consistent enough and sometimes appears to get intimidated when his confidence is low. I love Bev and even though I'm not ready to anoint him the PG of the future either I just love how he's tough, goes out there and competes and doesn't back down from anyone. Bev's heart and hustle is a major asset to the Rox.
