Blazers would accept if cavs gave up both Thompson and waiters I think....

But that would be a bad trade for the cavs.

When you get any 2 out of the 3 mambas in the league it's the best trio.

Yeah if playoffs are their goal then sure...but if they are trying to do more than that then they must realize that core is not going to get them very far.

When that realization is made then it is best to trade away a player like LMA for as much as you can.

We've said that the last 2 years and both years they end up underachieving and tanking....they'll miss the playoffs next year too

I never said that. Lillard is that dude. He will make the All-Star team next season and they will make the playoffs

You think? That's a no-doubter for the Blazers if the Cavs ever offered that package. However, that would NEVER happen.

I don't think Blazers would take that package even if Cleveland offered it. Portland is too close to being good themselves. They've got cap space to sign someone and they've got a lottery pick coming up.

I would trade asik, parsons, and lin for LMA. none of those guys are top in their respective positions, LMA is top 3 pf in the league.

Then Lillard needs to improve, because right now his numbers are mostly a product of high usage.

Every team in the league is interested in LMA. Thompson and Waiters would not tempt the Blazers, nor would the Cavaliers be willing to give up any more than that.

LMA will only be dealt for an absolutely crazy offer or if he demands a trade.

With Batum, Lillard, LMA, some cap space and decent draft picks, I don't see why the Blazers would make any such trade.

Sounds like the Amare Stoudemire situation all over again. This time it's Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters instead of J.J. Hickson.

I don't think the Blazers would do Thompson, Waiters alone.

But Thomson, Waiters, and the Cavs first round pick this year, top #1 protected? I suspect they'd do that.

And it's probably a decent move by the Cavs, too. I like Waiters upside, but Kyrie, LMA, Varejo if healthy, under Mike Brown (who isn't an awesome coach, but would at least preach defense and take them to a certain level) is a playoff team in the East.

On the Blazers side, are they really going to get a meaningfully better offer? The only problem with the offer is that this year's draft isn't that special, but if it puts them into semi-tank mode, and they are comfortable with one more year in the lottery, they are looking at Lillard, Batum, JJ (if resigned), Meyers Leonard, Waiters, Thomson, 2 lotto picks this year, 1 lotto pick next year.

Of course that would be a playoff team in the east, but they would still be a first round exit, even with that team, possibly a second round exit.

Why would cavs do that trade? LMA isn't old, but he will turn 30 in a few years. Thompson has done surprisingly well as a starter and Waiters is one of the best rookies out of last year's draft.

Blazers would do that trade in a heart beat. No way the Cavs would do it, and include a first round pick? That would be highway robbery by the Blazers.
