The Knicks were butt-hurt that Lin signed a larger deal with the Rockets than the offer that was first leaked. Their decision had nothing to do with them valuing Felton's basketball ability, or even contract over Lin's. It was an emotional decision.

Then they have no one to blame but themselves. They tried to lowball Lin instead of offering him a contract and then they go and get butt-hurt when he signs with someone else? I truly think Jeremy would have chosen the Knicks over the Rockets even if they offered him a smaller contract.

When Lin drives, defenses collapse. Not so for Felton. You can tell Boston is willing to let him get his points.

r****ded thread. I would avg 8 assists a night handing the ball to Melo or lobbing it to Tyson! How are you comparing Felton and the Knicks right now playing against the C's without their superstar and Lin and the inexperienced Rox against OKC? r****ded.

I can't believe you made that assumption based on 2 playoff games. Different seeds and different conferences.

Lin makes 5 million this year. Felton makes 4 million. The OP clearly failed 1st grade math.

4 million is not half of 5 million.

After this season no one knows if Felton or Lin will remain with their current teams or be traded.

And the Knicks start 2 PGs every game all year long.

    Felton and Kidd

    or Felton and Prig

    Or Kidd and Prig

Felton is only doing half the job or less of a normal starting PG.

How do you know that the Knicks made the right decision? Yea their stats are comparable, but Felton takes two more shots on average to get that. Felton is the sole playmaking guard on that team yet still only averages only 5 assists a game. You also dont mention that Felton is playing a beat down aging 7th seed celtics team who arent collapsing when he gets to the lane because they needa worry about Melo.

Honestly, I feel like Lin and Melo would have teared it up this year because Lin would've learned to play with a superstar like he did with Harden. And Lin would be the primary playmaker as Melo can play without the ball and he actually moves off the ball unlike Harden. And not to mention Felton is basically at his peak while Lin is 4 years younger and can improve greatly.

Knicks are locked in with huge contracts and aged players. They only have a couple years to win anything, and I dont even think they'll get out of the 2nd round (well maybe, Melo is playing out of his mind right now). At least with Lin you have some youth and some semblance of a future

Actually Lin does fit Woodson's system.

Lin would have started all 82 games for the Knicks.

Felton or Kidd would also start all 82 games along side Lin.

They like to play with 2 PGs.

Actualy their window closes after this year.

JR Smith just won the 6-man and is an unrestricted free agent. He is making a pultry 1-2 million and might get 10 million a season range.

With out JR Smith the Knicks would have been in deep trouble. He was the #2option and a very good one.

This Rockets team vs either the Knicks or Celtics and guess what

Houston wins the series. The Eastern Conference is a joke besides Miami.

maybe not their payroll is massive and it's a new luxury tax system.

JR might get a real "outrageous" contract not a 5, 5, 15 deal.

    He might have earn himself

    10, 11, 11, 12 ish deal 44 million

    Felton : 4.2 Winshare, .082 WS/48

    Lin: 5.4 winshare, .088 WS/48

fact is, if we had Felton instead of Lin this year, we'd probably missed the playoffs..

True. If Knicks wana do anything, its gotta be this year. Rockets is probably better for Lin. Its a young team and can contend for years especially if they get another star frontcourt player. And that is if Lin doesnt get traded of course

Can they even sign Smith? they don't have his bird rights and is already over the cap. IIRC that means they can't even offer him a contract unless he agrees to use the player option. or they manage to use some sort of injury exempt for Amare or something.

I doubt it. Having your 4th best player replaced by another guy that would be your 4th best player would not have caused the rockets to miss the playoffs.

Lin is certainly going to be better. On the other hand Felton far cheaper. Why didn't Morey just get Felton instead? The most important question is, since Dolan has doled out so much money to crappy overpaid players does it really matter to him this little bit?

It's frustrating how the NBA is infested by stupid fans who are star worshippers. Referees favoring stars and home teams. OKC and New York are two of Stern's darlings and many fans fall for it. Don't expect to win game 2.
