True, but they did beat Real and won the group stage against them, Man City and Ajax in convincing fashion.
I'm looking forward to all four matches (and will attend three of them). No need for grandstanding beforehand (or afterwards). I respect Barcelona. I think that these four teams are currently the best teams in Europe, and these should be exciting matches. In my opinion, Bayern and Real are more similar, and Barca and Dortmund are a bit more similar (in terms of playing style). I think Goetze has the potential to be one of the top 5 players in the world in a couple of years, but Dortmund is not polished enough yet to eliminate Real when it counts. They were very lucky to advance. Barca are the favorites against anyone - Messi, Xavi and Iniesta were born to play with each other - they are amazing. But Bayern has a good team as well and we can be looking forward to some amazing matchups.
I didn't want to play you guys till the final and I'm sure you'd say same. Barca matched up well against Dortmund and you guys well against Real. I'm also thinking about heading to the Camp for the second leg if my cousin can have me over. Guess they couldn't resist all national team final potential
I was there for that Barca vs. Bayern 4:0 match about four years ago - most depressing match for me as a Bayern fan ever. Never before or after (maybe with the exception of the Dortmund-Bayern 5:2 cup final last year) have I seen Bayern get so utterly dominated. http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsle.../match=302804/postmatch/statistics/index.html But while Barca seems to still have its core from back then together, a lot of things have changed since then for Bayern. We had a completely incompetent coach back then (Klinsmann) and only two players from that match are still with the team (Ribery and Schweinsteiger). Everyone else is gone. Looking back at the lineup of that day, it's almost ridiculous - guys like Lell, Oddo, Breno were so incredibly bad and slow. I still remember Klinsmann deciding to match Lell up with Messi, and Lell making sure that he would keep at least a 40 meter safety distance between himself and the guy he was supposed to guard. Bayern has gotten better since then. Whether it will be enough - I don't know. Again, Barca are the favorites.
Wow great semis await us.. I too didn't want Bayern till the finals but excited to see the games. Remember it's an odd year (09,11,13?) and the final is in Wembley (93, 11) that gives me hope
I don't think Barca is as dominate as people believe them to be. The last 2 years have shown that they have struggled at home in CL elimination games. I also don't think Real is the same team as in the group stages. They seem to be getting stronger and stronger.
Semis look great. I'm a huge Mourinho fan so I'm supporting Real. At the same time, I would love to see Bayern win the treble this season and fire their coach. Barca are always exciting to watch. Dortmund plays a fantastic brand of football so I can't really root against them. Great backstories too: - Heynckes is facing his succesor's favorite club. - Real are playing a team they couldn't beat twice this season. - Real are going for 10th champions league. - Mourinho is going for a personal record which will likely last forever. - Barcelona are not in great form at the moment. - Dortmund is feeling confident and dying to deny Bayern if they end up in Finals together. - No English teams = Spanish and German fans rejoice. - Final is at Wembley, which is always awesome.
It is reported that Bayern Munich will be paying 38mil Euro for the service of Mario Gotze starting July 1st.
Sluggish play after that goal. One doesn't hurt but 2? Lets get a road goal! Edit: good start and that was not offsides Edit again: ugh
