Rockets coach Kevin McHale said Sunday that when the Thunder switched, the Rockets too often tried to go one-on-one to score Yeah, same thing said after every loss. Not enough ball movement, too much one on one, offense/ball not flowing, no transition game, yada yada yada. After another loss in game two - Kevin, what was the problem tonight? Not enough ball movement, too much one on one, offense/ball not flowing, no transition game, we didn't get out and run. Kevin, didn't you say that last game?
We have been saying this all along. McHale's system has no ball movement. If you don't believe us, now you can listen to the pro.
thats pretty much absolutely correct. Don't get me wrong, I hate Ibaka and it pisses me off that his diss is factual.
I coached a perfect game, you know the gameplan was solid. These kids, you know I tell Jeremy, Weer tryin to win here. I miss Cole Aldrich...
This. The Rockets weren't trying to be selfish but they kept hesitating to move the ball for fear of a TO. You could see Parsons and Lin dribbling on the perimeter, look to swing it around, and then pull back, always doubting themselves. Same thing with Asik and Smith inside, they catch it in the paint and can't decide what to do. OKC is so fast on switches and in passing lanes it paralyzes opposing offenses. Hopefully we can get over the jitters and be more decisive on offense in game 2.
selfish? I'll show them! run more isos! wait we don't run isos, i keep forgetting that part. plays just turn into isos.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this so yes he's right and OKC probably don't even need to watch game tapes because even the dumbest person on earth who has watched one game knows everything about us and could come up with a plan to stop us from doing what we want to do. We have a childishly simple strategy on offense so let's see what the selfish guys and their leader can do to shut Ibaka up.
Selfish isn't the right word... It's not Luke Harden is out just trying to get his. He's just trying to hard and pressing to much, not being selfish, just making poor decisions.
I hate Ibaka but he spoke the truth! Looks like we have a long way to go. We will become Choke City first then hoping for the Clutch City.
McHale needs to go. Serious sign of bad coaching. Thats twice our players have been called selfish by others.
We had a worse record without Harden than with him. The issue is not Parsons or Harden or Lin or anyone else. The issue is that the Rockets are going up against a team that has an enormous advantage talent wise, and that has been together for years and battled deep into the playoffs. The Thunder have a HUGE advantage at PG, SF and PF. The Rockets have a huge advantage at SG and Center.... but not to the extend that the Thunder. The gap between Westbrook and Lin is HUGE... the same with Durant and Parsons and the gulf between Ibaka and any garbage we throw at the 4 is amazing. We are not winning this series, we are not supposed to win this series... the Thunder have an enormous amount more experience, talent and motivation. There is really nothing the Rockets can do.
The word "selfish" is thrown around but it's not what it means. I don't think any of our players is selfish in the sense that they want personal success over the team's success. They are just unable to execute a half course offense. I do give McHale the benefit of the doubt that it's a young team and it takes a lot of repetition to get something down. I hope they practice some half court plays A LOT during this relatively long layoff time.
Ibaka's comment is pretty common knowledge about the Rox at this point, but it appears not much is being done about it. If Rox continue playing like they are in this series it will be an uncompetitive sweep. The main person who could take charge and demand better execution out there is the coach. He is always complaining about the ball being "sticky" but he does nothing about it. The team, including the coaching staff, have become too dependent on Harden. Harden isn't an MJ, Lebron, etc. kind of player at this point and probably never will be. More imagination needs to be implemented into the Rox offense. When the Rox aren't hitting their 3s they become quit easy to defend.
Ibaka is dumb and needs to stfu. I am a fan and more knowledgable than he is. What we need is more ISO plays.
I don't see anything wrong with Ibaka's comments. In fact I appreciate it. Sometimes when we hear the same criticism over and over from the same people, it loses its motivating effect. However, sometimes hearing the same criticism from someone else on the outside is exactly what you need to really get the message across. That's all.
