When Adelman was coaching the Rockets Lowry was the starter and Gogi was the 6th man. Lowry also was mentioned as possible all-star before his injury, and till this day he has a higher PER than all of them
When Adelman was coaching, the Rockets went on a historic 22 game winning streak which was only recently broken by the Miami Heat. The rockets never had to rely on Iso basketball under Rick Adelman.
I think the logical follow up to your first statement was that because Lin isn't a star, bad games aren't as tolerable. Instead you went the "everyone hates Asians" route. Good job.
I agree. Lin needs to run pick and roll to be effective. Every time harden is out of the game he needs to be the first option. Lin is more effective with the ball in his hands. Harden is over used, Lin needs to handle the ball more.
Lin gets plenty of picks set for him. He's not initiating the offense on every play , but this isn't the Linsanity Knicks and Lin isn't a star in this league so he'll have to make do with being the secondary playmaker. Hopefully he'll be a more effective player next season and we'll see him featured more in the offense.
Well, I was just responding to Magic's approval is not a measuring stick for future success but having his praise is certainly better than not having it. More importantly, he's one of the best PG ever and his opinion should be somewhat respected IMO. And don't forget that he's a Laker homer, I'd cut him some slack.
Um...worng...he actually played last year in the playoffs... Moreover, young doesn't mean green and Bradley is an SG, he is only situational because of Rondo's injury.
Well, I don't think McHale gets the blame every time Lin has bad games. But he does get some blame because he is turning Lin into something he's not and team suffers. He puts the ball in Harden's hand all the time and Harden is overused. Harden, while a very good player, is not MJ or Kobe, him playing ISO all the times is too predictable. Heck, even MJ and Kobe won with the triangle offense. I should say Harden is not AI, who never won a championship. This is somewhat true but the main problem is that Lin is supposed to be facilitator, not necessarily a second option in terms of scoring. It's sort of the opposite actually, turning him into a shooter is what get people upset.
Stop labeling people, that's too easy. And he only represents himself, where this yourselves come from? Stop embarrasing yourself.
If you want people to respect Lin as a player, stop playing the racist card. D-Will's bad game is tolerated because he is proven. The same goes for Chris Paul when he had a 4pt/5TO game in regular season against the Spurs. No one said anything bad about CP3 other than saying he had a bad game? Why? Because he is proven! When Lin is proven (with consistent performance night-in-night-out), people will tolerate an occasional bad game. Your trying to defend him with any imaginable excuse isn't helping.
I've watched pretty much all of the Rockets pre season games. Most of the time, it's either Harden or Beverly that brings the ball up to front court. Mchale only allows Lin to handle the ball when the team is in trouble.
Lin doesn't know how to use pace as a weapon. He's one speed all the time. Last year in new York he had a better pace to his game. If you look at other top pg's, some fast some not so fast...they all know how to pace the team and themselves to get space for shots. As soon as Lin beats his man he takes off like a rocket towards the basket...everytime...doesn't matter where he's at on the court...he could be under the other teams basket and if he gets pass his man he's zooming to the rim. Sometimes Lin needs to slow down some and let the offense get in rhythm or sync. Harden is a good example. Sometimes when he beats his man, he'll just box them out as he inches towards the basket setting up a teammate for an open shot it getting an open shot for himself. Lin needs better rhythm. He needs to start playing smarter and not like a fool on s kamikaze mission.
And he'll learn and improve, I'm sure. Despite his inconsistency game over game, the one thing Lin has definitely proven this season is that he continues to get better. I'm sure the learning/maturing process will continue into the offseason and in years to come.
