I never said they were a GOOD team. I was implying that they were a TALENTED team. Which is absolutely true. San-Antonio has beat the lakers plenty of time when kobe was playing, the fact of the matter is that this lakers team is not coached very well and as long as Dantoni is at the helm of that team they aren't winning anything. In today's game no one one the spurs had a standout game. Duncan scored 17, parker 18 and ginobli 18 but they still managed to score 91 points and held the lakers to 79 points. In comparison our rockets allowed a lakers team with steve blake as the starting PG to score 90 points BEFORE overtime. I'll let you decide whether or not the spurs played good defense in a 79-91 win.
if the league had more old/retired players live-tweeting what they really thought, it would be amazing.
Stockton? I'd take Payton and Frazier above Stockton. Payton's the closest competition to Nash. Oh. The San Antonio Spurs are a better defensive team than the Houston Rockets. Thanks for telling me, I couldn't have figured that out on my own. The fact however is that despite the old saying, defense alone doesn't get you to a championship as the Thibodeau Bulls demonstrated last night. And aside from Ginobilli showing he's still alive, San Antonio was also terrible on offense. Not as bad as a Lakers team with a Nash who can't hit anything, but still bad. That might get them past the Lakers, or perhaps Houston if we had played them, but that isn't getting them to the Finals, much less the championship. I like the Spurs, but this was a disappointing effort from them tonight.
They're not a good team with Kobe, sure Kobe may have given them a chance to win, he would have also given them a chance to lose by 20, but when you're just not as good as your opponent, that wild card can be everything. As for OKC or Denver, curbstomped? a lot of what is limiting SAS is Dwight, he causes so many restriction in lane shots. Parker meanders past whoever is defending, and then is forced into some tear drop, a pass, to dribble out, etc because "There's Dwight!", that doesn't happen against the others, he just lays it up.

On to game 2. I will be watching from the crib again in a pau jersey and laker face paint ha! Its baffling how you are calling a double digit victory a disappointing effort. What did you expect the spurs to win by 30? Did you want kobe to magically repair his achilles and play only to get beat by the spurs? Would that have impressed you? San Antonio was not terrible on offense, in fact they were the same as the always are. They incorporate good ball movement, solid back screens and duncan post-ups. News flash they scored 91, and thats with poor shooting nights from parker, neal and lenoard! Now i am gonna stop arguing with you as I do not like taking about the spurs to such an extent (i am a rockets fan!) but arguing about the validity of a win is just a huge waste of time.
So we saw Lakers getting blown out... and decided to outdo them in getting beat. Ha! beat that you dirty Lakers!
Maybe for a brief moment but they've yet to put it all together. They got out rebounded and they shot 37% from the floor which is awful for a team. I just couldnt stand how the media only focused on that last game of the season that they played in LA and conveniently forgot to mention the other games they actually won against them. Honestly all of the LA butt kissing going on by ESPN is ridiculous. I've never seen a losing team get so much pub.
Haha, no I'm right here. I don't see what the big deal is. What I said was that the Lakers will be competitive now that they can run a more logical offense for their personnel and I stand by that. Yes, they lost game #1 pretty badly as did a bunch of other teams (eg, I don't think Memphis is THAT much worse than the Clippers or that the Bulls are THAT much worse than the Nets). But also keep in mind that the Spurs are a very good team, especially with Ginobili making such an impressive return to action. One that that I did expect, that didn't happen in game #1, was Nash making more of an impact. He should blend very well with the rest of the team now that he is in more of a playmaking role but we haven't seen it yet this year. Let's see what happens in the next few games.
I didn't think the Spurs made shots. Which does not bode well for the Lakers. The Spurs could have easily been better. Spurs need to try and wrap this series up quick so Parker can get healthy.
