Lin performed poorly. I'll give him a pass since it's his first playoff game against a strategically excellent team in a hostile atmosphere. His role is not going to change now, like it or not. He needs to protect the ball and be efficient with his opportunities. He is not being guarded by anyone significant on the defensive side, and he is not the focus of the other team's defense. It is idiotic to expect a $8m player just because he is signed for that amount. We all know full well that he is paid above market value because of marketing appeal. No one complains when his fans bring in revenues for the Rockets. I expect a $5m player. He was worth that over the season. He was not worth that in the first playoff game. Let's see how he responds.
Nash's 3rd season avg 31.7 min, 7.9pts, 5.5ast, 2.1TO, 36.3%FG Parker's 3rd season avg 34.4 min, 14.7pts, 5.5ast, 2.4TO, 44.7%FG Lin's 1st complete season avg 32.2 min, 13.4pts, 6.1ast, 2.9TO, 44.1%FG Stop the hate. Be patient.
For this season, it may be better off running the offense through Lin. In the long run, if we can pull in another superstar to play for us, we should build around the two superstars to maximize our team's potential.
I don't think you know what kind of production you are going to get out of a guy that is paid 8 million a year. Jameer Nelson, George Hill, Conley production is what to expect from an 8 million dollar player. Be sensible.
McHale didn't develop Greg either I believe? I am pretty sure it was Sampson. Typically assistants work more hand in hand with players.
What are the Odds of Lin being as great as those two? You could say that about any rookie player this year.
Nice try, valient effort. However, reasonable discussion is not going to get to the hating mob, the only hope is for Lin to regroup and prove the pundits wrong;... or shove it up their a$$ if you will.
LOL, check out Lin's usage numbers compared to Harden please. Lin has been reduced to a spot up shooter most of the season and has actually beginning to adapt to that role decently. Tell me who is top 3 in anything for a player who gets paid similar to Lin in NBA
Many teams try to develop their young players, why are the Rockets any different? So the only purpose of education is to produce money making machines instead of creative and free thinking individuals? Whoever was trying to develop you didn't do a very good job. Proof? Don't let the hate mess up your brain, Cato and Lin are diametrical opposites. Lin has good work ethics and motivation, Cato has talents.
I am a Lin fan. Yes, I am disappointed in his play last night, but I have no doubt he will bounce back and learn from it. Just have to be patient. I don't expect Linsanity in the playoffs (but would be awesome), but just for him to build from it and grow. He needs to be more confident and take charge.
Greivis Vasquez makes $2 million a year and is top 3 in assists. Mike Conley makes $7.3 million a year and is top 3 in steals. I can do this all day while you make up new Lincuses.
I think McHale and Rockets really are developing Lin. But Lin needs to think less and be confidence, well he can hardly do that cuz people are still going after him for all that money he's got even tho he's not in NYC anymore. Imagine how it would be like for him had he stayed there? He would be just a back up and not given a chance to develop. cuz NY fans are even more impatient, they want to see a developed star already. So I call for Cluthcfans to embrace Lin. Either way we are stuck with him until his contract is up. I'm confidence to say that he won't be traded in his contract. Look at his numbers, it's so inconsistent, do you think any team would want his contract? Lin will improve for sure.
The starting PG position is too crucial... but Lin doesn't play the PG position on this team. He is a spot up shooter on this team... and last night his shots didn't fall. I think Lin should be traded or come off the bench as a 6th man... it would be better for the Rox and better for Lin.
Magic Johnson's approval is some kind of measuring stick of future success? The same Magic that said the Lakers would beat the Spurs last week and after game one apologized and backtracked his stance?
Not only did Lin suck last night, our whole team sucked. Come on guys, we got BEAT by a superior team in every way. This goes from Harden all the way down to the last bench player that logged mins last night.
Lin actually had just about as many T.O as assists and points combined yesterday. It's been a while since I've seen that.
