ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Thunder 4/21/2013 (Playoffs Round 1, Game 1)

Call me crazy, but seeing both Denver and SA today playing, I think he have a better chance against OKC. Of course that is not saying much, but still I believe we actually match pretty nicely with OKC. 3 key factors for us to win.....

- We simply can´t let them get 2nd chance oppurtunities, don´t let garbage scrubs like Collison/Perkins kill us with key tournaround plays off ofensive rebounds.
- Don´t let Kevin Martin be a scoring threat coming off the bench, this is key IMO.
- Lin/Parsons have to be agressive offensively, we have to make, specially Durant, to put some effort defensively, I just don´t believe in his defense and I think he gets a pass because there are few guys that go at him because of his status.

We just have to play some D, if we don´t it is going to get ugly very quickly.

 

My very first post to kick off the New Age of Houston Rockets Playoffs.

I don't expect much in the post season, I'm just glad that we're here. Let's just see what this team can do, and watch as they take this experience into training camp for the next season. Let's go Rockets!

It's funny. When I watch the elite teams in the west play, I immediately get a wake up call and our weaknesses become glaringly obvious. Case in point - DEFENSE.

Conversely, I can also see how we have the talent and we are not that far off. I really hope that Mchale makes an effort to manage this game tightly and not let negative momentum get out of control.

 

I'm actually glad we r playing the thunder. The spurs are ridiculously good! Not saying that the thunder aren't, but the spurs are just a great team all around with very few weaknesses.

I agree:

Denver is a better version of us, because IMO they are better coached and more importantly they just have 10 guys that can play, so they have the ability to always have fresh legs running up and down, as oposed to us. That is the main reason we play so bad on back-to-backs, no legs.

SA, just the worst matchup for us, not because they are the best team, but because they base their game on pure execution, and for a young team like us, it is just unbeatable over a 7 game series.

We have talent we just don´t have a half-court guy that will alow us to, when needed, slow down the game, that is the main reason we also lose leads so quickly.

I trully believe we have a chance against OKC, no homer (even if that chance is only to make it competitive), we just have to play D and it starts with Harden, he has to lead by example (if Sefalosha goes off....).

Key to Win the game:

Start the pick n roll between the half court line and three point line....this gives so much room for Harden to work and he has been way more efficient playing from that far out. Usually Asik gives the pick so one less big man in the paint.

And play defense.

I just want to say I hope all of us rocket fans cheer as hard as you can from your seats these boys have carried us fans into the playoffs now its time for us to let them know how excited and proud we are to have them represent H-TOWN

I know that Harden is a great player. Really believe that his struggles as of late are fatigue based. I hope he can muster a performance tonight to show the world exactly how good he is.
