I took it to mean that in order to beat the Thunder in a 7 game series, we will need to change the laws of physics.

Nah but seriously Morey just says these things so he can laugh at people on the internet over analyzing some vague statistical-sounding word he pulled out of his butt.

Beverley has a chance to affect Westbrook. Tell Bev. to use all his fouls on Westbrook and use them hard. Beverley can disrupt Westbrook's game some.

I interpreted it as, run plays that are high risk - high reward.

i.e. run riskier plays, hope for better outcomes.

    "get lucky"

and i guess...that does come down to the 3 point. That is the highest reward (apart from let say...breaking Durant's leg and pepper spraying WB's eyes :p), but a hit and miss shot...more variable shot?

I expect Thunder to win in 5. Hopefully we can stretch it to 6!

This would be a good idea. Let Bev pest Westbrook all night and hope it'll piss him off enough and do something stupid like get 3 techs in 1 game.

Morey is talking about play selection so offense isn't predictable

I'm not even generally a fan of the music + sports video thing, but I'd love to see some of this series' video set to that. Win or lose even. That one can sting or feel good.

So, the strategy against a team featuring the new D-Whistle (Durant) and Westbrook who draw fouls like crazy and consistently live at the foul line with an 85+ FT % is to foul them some more? Good.

    No, that's variety, not variance.

If we shoot nothing but 3's, that's low variety, but high variance.

I also like the idea of Delfino starting against the Thunder.

It's probably the only lineup match-up where the Rockets might have an edge and given Scott Brooks' love fest with Perkins it's rather unlikely he'd adjust.

    So:

1.) Start Delfino, maximize the small-ball minutes against the Thunder's big lineup, shoot a lot of 3s.
2.) Watch Scott Brooks not adjust
    3.) ???
    4.) Profit.

I'm all for starting Delfino, just have to see what the impact is on our rebounding

I think id be more comfortable with Morey coaching this team than with Kevin Mchale

If Morey's idea of defeating the No 1 seed is to take low percentage/unreliable shots instead of adding more variety to a stereotyped offense, then he has got to be more stupid than McSuccess. That's the very definition of "getting lucky": taking the low% shots allowed by OKC defense while hoping to get hot, beat the odds and shoot lights out.

He means more 3 point shots. 3 point shooting is the most variable shot in the game -- if your team shoots 3's at a high efficiency and volume you can pretty much beat any team in the league. Since our playmaking and defense isn't really on par with OKC's, our best bet at beating them is by literally chucking up lots of threes and hoping they go in.

Basically Morey means pass the ball continuously, there by confusing the okc defense. Okc will not know who to guard leaving all our players open to make easy shots.
