Parsons isn't a star, I am not sure why that argument is being made. He is, however, one of the best secondary, role playing complimentary players you can ask for. 100% hustle, very efficient shooter, plays off the ball and doesn't demand to play with the ball in his hands (can co-exist well with stars), great in the locker room, pretty good defender, and above all that is young, getting better, and has an extremely favorable contract.

Parsons doesn't demand to play with the ball in his hands because he can't. His drives are the only thing he knows how to do and they're always with his right and and a straight-line drive towards the basket after a pump fake. Rinse and repeat.

If he developed some semblence of ball-handling skills (ala Durant) he'd be a star in this league, no question. He has the drive game, the 3pt game, and even a better midrange than Harden. Problem is, very very few tall, lanky small forwards can dribble the ball as well as a point guard. It's almost as rare as a point forward, or a successful tweener.

ball-handling skills aren't what's keeping him from being Durant. Being unable to consistently create his own shot is .

The problem is that you cannot teach ball-handling skills. You can however help players learn to shoot better. That's why some gms will draft players with good ball control. Because the shooting can come after. Look at MKG

I don't think I have ever seen a post from you that was right.

How is Parsons not athletic? He is faster than most people at his position, he can jump really high, his movement is fluid.

What is an "elite NBA athlete" for you?

Jeremy's signing brought me onboard (again), but damn, I have to say that parsons is my favorite player on this team.

He's pretty much the only guy in the nba who reminds me of a college player. Meaning, he doesn't take any plays off at all. He's always focused and always plays hard, every play.

Even with harden iso-ing damn near every play into oblivion, you'll still see parsons waiting to catch the ball, ready when the opportunity strikes.

Chandler has the potential to be a future all star. And he'll likely be the lowest paid all star when he does make the team. :)

I don't think he's lazy, but I do think he takes plays off occasionally. Remember this is his first season as a full time starter and he played the 6th most minutes in the NBA this season of any player. It's worth noting that a lot of great players who play a ton of minutes do the same thing. How many plays does Kobe take off on D?

Man, people keep saying Parsons doesn't have good ball handling abilities. I just don't see that. I think he has good ball handling abilities. Very fluid, like another poster said. Maybe it's because I've seen Shandon Anderson dribble the ball, so I know a thing or two about bad ball handling.

So did anyone expect Parsons putting up numbers better than Iggy when the season started?

The help defense is one of our defensive tenets and McHale/Sampson/Morey have all said so. We would rather give out outside shots than allow a mismatch down low. I don't agree with this, but that is what our team's strategy is.

I think by "not an elite NBA athlete" he simply meant "white".

I would say he is pretty athletic for 6'9 or 6'10.

You LOF's just piss me off! do you have any idea how many players have to come off the bench and produce cold? In my opinion; no, in every intelligent basketball fans mind Beverly should have stayed on the floor for the last five minutes of that game. He was playing with true grit, something every player should play with. he got pulled after attempting to dunk on dwight howard and actually got a foul called on dwight:eek:. At this point in time Beverly is a better fit for this team because of his superior 3pt shot and superior defense to Lin. Lin is more of a 6th man in my opinion. why don't we try that. are bench definately lacks a scorer and our starting core definately lacks defense. Patrick Beverly is the man

IMO, Beverley is pretty overrated at defense. Yeah, he makes the hustle plays but he also fouls a lot and gets beat to the basket constantly. I love his motor, but he would still be shelled by the likes of Russel Westbrook or Derrick Rose. He is a great backup PG, but no all-star calibre defender like everyone on here acts like. In the same way that people on here considered Courtney Lee a great defender last year.
