i'm saying a FT is a "free" throw because a ref calls the foul. Which is not an exact science. there are no 100% accuracy for a foul call. it is fallible and at worst it can be manipulated by nefarious interests. but if you shoot a defended jump shot and it goes in or out, it goes in or out based on the skill of the shooter and not what a ref or another interest decides.

this one is 100% negated by the open miss vs griz. imo he hasnt earned the clutch title just yet...

Of course it takes more skills to hit a contested jumper than it would to shoot free throws. Just like doing a 360 dunk takes more skills than a layup but that doesn't have anything to do with being overrated.

What about his 46pts vs the Thunder or his last minute heroics against Minny earlier this season?

first of all, there are more games that it doesnt happen, than those that do. secondly, putting up a bunch of points doesnt make you clutch. sinking that one basket when you REALLY need it most? clutch. anybody here rather have harden take a 3 over robert horry?

When your team is down and you have to come back, then some dude scores a ton and single handedly brings a team back with his scoring and wins the game....yes...that is very clutch.

How about Harden or Lin for the last shot?

You should score most of your points from team ball. What you are talking about is ISO harden and it hasnt been working lately.

if Harden continues with this ball-hogging **** he is completely useless and no different than Francis. That is what worries me. He wasn't playing like this the 1st half of the season.

Come on syd. Its harden's first year being the man. He's still learning, even LeBron disappeared in the 4th earlier in his career.

That's aside from the point and not what's being discussed.

Whether you agree with the way he scored those points or not, that game, right there, the man was clutch.

end of the game situation? yes. the whole second half or whole 4th quarter? not so much. and again, lets not act as if harden has done this all season. in fact he probably does the opposite this season. those blown iso plays killed us all season and one reason why maybe we lose so many close games. we dont have a bona fide closer...

loaded question. on most nights obviously harden, but on some nights such as vs griz, i think lin had the hot hand. the vs miami airball still burns in people's memories i guess....

I think parsons should be in the consideration for last shots. he's excellent at shooting and that 3pointer against lakers a few days ago was amazing.

Harden has proven he can close games. If you expect somebody, ANYBODY, to close every single game out, you're delusional or you're kidding yourself. MJ, Lebron, Kobe, and many other "closers" can't get it done some nights...

I definitely am not saying that Harden has been a consistent closer, but that comes with time and experience. He has, however, proven he can do it (Spurs, Timberwolves, Thunder, Hawks games, to name a few).

Rome wasn't built in a day...

What a stupid f***ing question. Horry is the most clutch shooter of all time, most of us would take him over anybody. Does that mean nobody is clutch?? Smh you're bringing a knife to a gunfight. Harden has proved to be clutch this year

like with every star players, along with the goods, he'll also have some bads. I think his f0ck ups have been magnified cause he's the #1 option and he's always got the ball in his hands, especially during crucial possessions. I think harden definitely owe parsons several lap dances for bailing him out at the end of the lakers game , and hitting that big 3.

agree to disagree/difference of opinion/etc. for me, there were enough situations and close games where i was hoping for harden to take over and he simply didnt. that's not to say in expect him to do it every time, just not enough for me to label him as clutch. for you maybe he has. ymmv...

I wasn't arguing he was "clutch." I was saying it's unfair to say he's anti clutch. He's neither one or the other at this point. Like any player that has the ball in his hands with the game on the line, he will make some last second shots and miss some.
