That makes no sense. Muslims are perfectly capable of doing terrible and savage things, just like everyone else. Judging from the reports, I think it's fair to label them Muslims, but honestly there's no reason to actually draw any conclusions from that fact.

I friend who is Kyrgyz and a couple of Judo students who are Kazakh and yes that name is relatively common in the region.

 

I had no information about that aspect, so it isn't like I had incorrect information. I wasn't making a claim one way or the other regarding their religion and made that clear in the post.

Wow. The second pic that guy looks almost exactly like one of my Judo students who is from Kazakhstan and is a graduate student at the U of MN.

Also Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov is technically right that these guys didn't grow up in Chechnya and might never have even been to there. So they likely weren't radicalized because by Chechnya (at least directly). That isn't to excuse Ramzan Kadyrov as the Chechen rebels have committed bloody terrorist acts.

My own speculation is that these guys are Al Qaeda wannabes who were radicalized through the internet.

 

I don't think they did it because they were radical, i think they did it because they were losers full of hate just like the uncle said. The people that do it for their "Islamic" reasons have come out and proudly admitted it and blown themselves up in the cause. These guys were:

Stupid enough to make it obvious
Robbed a gas station
Jacked a car
and blew up a marathon of all places.
Evil is the only thing that comes ot mind.

 

Perhaps, but radio is reporting the older brother was out of the country for 6 months last year.

As for the younger brother, no one seems to have a single negative thing about him. I wonder if he just went a long with his older brother.

I am also going to eat some crow here. I honestly didn't think the perpetrators would be identified so soon.
