How many of those teams you mentioned had under 100 games of NBA starting experience at the beginning of the season? Experience is not just measured in age, but also in number of games played. This team has done tremendously well as the most inexperienced starting lineup in history.
Our superstar is in his fourth year and has been in the playoffs the past four years. Our youth and inexperience is incredibly overstated. This isn't the 80s. Granted experience does count for something but it's not as big of deal these days. As far as other young inexperienced teams just look at OKC.
So basically, you wrote all that to say, "We don't have the most talented young core in NBA history, not to mention a collection of young core talent doesn't always result in future success." Well, okay I guess. I know we're not super talented nor is our future success set in stone. But I can still extract a ton of enjoyment from this season.
I completely agree with this thread. It's one thing to analyze and critique the game...it's another to simply hate on a site called clutchFANS. If you want to hate on the team 24/7 make your own website.
It's funny because we have been analyzing and then criticizing so far. The reactions we got all year was outright denial though.
I thought that McHale was a good coach because the team had a better record than expected, but after the LA game, I just realize that McHale sucks so much. I do not blame any player on the team, everyone seems to know his role, but McHale is so bad, I just want to hit him with a stone if I see him after the game. I do not think the rockets can go very far with McHale as the coach.
I dont want to pile on the crap you are getting any more, but you are clearly being dismissive about how different this years team was from last year from a youth/experience standpoint, and how hard it is to jump from 42 to 45 wins. 3 Wins doesn't seem like alot on paper, but anyone with as much bball smarts as you have knows how difficult it is the in the super stacked Western Conference. Take away the Rockets best veteran players, insert youth/inexperience, and the degree of difficulty significantly increases. Plus, if last years team would have made the playoffs what would that mean for the future? That they should lock up Martin again, and keep on shooting for the 6th - 8th seed for the next 5 years? This team, while just as competitive, has the ability to take an even larger jump next year, and the year after that one into contention. Last years team NEVER would be considered anything more than an underdog that might steal a first round series. Your upset still about Patrick Patterson. We get it. However, you are smart enough to know that Patrick's time in Houston was limited as to the teams direction to either find a star player either through youth or trade at that position. Why not at least get someone back that is A. A trade asset this Summer, and B. Has that potential to be all star prospect. Anyone who has followed Morey for longer than a minute should have seen it coming at some point. The team might never have saw another opportunity to trade him for value until next February when they would have been shipping him off for nothing. Plus as good as Jones has looked the past few weeks, its safe to say that him or someone else would have eventually take a significant amount of minutes from him anyways. Its time to move on bro.
Rockets are going to the playoffs. Nothing to complain about. And if you're not happy about it, go buy a team.
I was never as negative about the team and Morey over the last 3 years as many here were and I am not about to go overboard praising Morey, either. The team went from a 42-43 win team in the recent past with some decent pieces and the assets (players, picks, cap flexibility) to acquire a franchise player to actually turning these assets into a franchise player. While it is never easy to turn a collection of assets into an elite talent, the fact that some of what the team were converted into Harden (and that Morey came close to getting Howard and earlier Pau/Nene) shows that the cupboard wasn't all that bare before the deal, either. My midseason trades have little to do with my evaluation of where the team is. I am just being objective. The team is in a pretty good spot now but it is far more difficult to go from where this team is (I.e. an 8th seed young team) to an actual contender than it was to go from where it was from 2009-2012 to where it is now.
That's a well founded concern considering Coach McHale is widely regarded as a coach players love to play for. Here are just a few quotes: "The coaching staff gives us so much freedom where it's really a fun system to play in." - Chandler Parsons "I think Kevin’s (McHale) one of the best teachers that I’ve ever been around." - Kevin Garnett (Read more at: http://nesn.com/2013/01/kevin-garne...ond-despite-being-polar-opposites-as-players/) "Today is a sad day" - Kevin Love on discovering Kevin McHale would not return has head coach of the Timberwolves "The rebuilding Timberwolves showed improvement under his relentlessly positive coaching style, and every player has said they would like to see McHale return to the bench next season. "If there's some kind of way that he leaves the Timberwolves," star forward Al Jefferson said in April, "that's when I'll be very, very upset."" - The entire Timberwolves team, Al Jefferson (read more at: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4265512) Etc, etc, etc. I can't even count how many times I've heard commentators, journalists and players refer to McHale as a player's coach, and you're worried star players won't want to play for him? It's absolutely mind boggling how unfounded and absurd some of the crap being posted around here is.
If your a Rockets fans out there and honestly thought we could be a 50 win team Im assuming you're a rich man, because odds makers were off by 10+ wins
I respectfully disagree. I think the hardest part or rebuilding is acquiring a superstar you can build around. In my opinion, James Harden has proven to be that guy. I also think it will be a lot easier to lure other stars aboard now that we have a star player of our own. I expect free agents will be a lot more interested in us this off-season than they were in 2009-2012. But we'll find out soon enough.
Agree totally. The ones that show zero respect and act like some entitled Lakers bandwagoners are usually the problems. The same dudes that bring all the hatred into this forum, then call everyone else "hater!". ffs.
All feedback threads related to players , teams , coaching staff , management are Idiot threads. Excusing threads about all upper mention stuff are political right thread here. LOL
What's really funny is that this is nothing new for this forum, at least since I joined last seasion. The exact same arguments against McHale that he can't coach, exact same "omg you don't like the team if you don't support every aspect of it, you guys whine too much even though i'm whining about you whining every time you whine lol" . Instead of Delfino, it was the dreaded Patterson/Scola frontline. Lowry/Dragic was the Lin/Harden debate Asik was the Camby /Dalembert "Why you no play our bigs when we need rebounds?" Offense still sucked last season, McHale knew no plays, still doesn't. The difference is that there's a scapegoat group to target now in the new Lin and harden fans. But yeah all this "zomg there's so many haters now" yeah that was here last year in full force also, before the "new era".
That's hilarious man, interesting post. I can see it too, just copy and paste the names like you mentioned. But I guess that's everything related to the internet. I came here because the ESPN forums were such a joke and the Jeremy Lin forums weren't any better. Despite all the whining, there are a lot of really smart basketball minds on here that have consistently put up good stuff. We all know who they are, just as we all know who the less-constructive posters are. But what do I know? I'm just a O-12er.
