He is definitely getting picked. I seen him as low as third round and as high as 5th. This guy will get picked by someone. I wouldnt mind using our fourth on him but we just have to many holes.

Or are there a collection of mixed bag types with bust potential and a need for a year or so of development before they're ready to go? Don't forget how tough it is to walk in and play in Kubiak's system. -Deep class of WRs, and plenty of need at other positions. Personally, I just don't see the team passing on a Day 1 impact starter in the first because they've pigeon holed themselves to take a WR in the first, value be damned. But it's extremely hard to guess what the Texans are going to do. Like most NFL teams outside the top 3 picks, their thoughts and plans are locked up tight as a drum. They've got their own draft board, and trying to figure it out without seeing what they and their scouting staff has is pointless. But I can still play 3 Blind Mice GM for fun In the first, I would try to move up to get Sylvester Williams. Our defense rolled over and died when the front 7 couldn't cause the havoc we saw in 2011. Cody and Mitchell had a lot to do with that, IMO. Solidify the line with Smith, Watt, and a real beast in the middle and we should be feasting again. If we can't move up, I would consider moving down for Margus Hunt or maybe even Jason Ertz. Hunt needs no explanation. With Ertz, I see a lot more value grabbing a premium TE that can block opposite Daniels in Kubiak's 2TE happy boot scheme than I do a #2 wideout that won't provide immediate contributions. WR, CB, S, OL...I don't want to burn our first on someone that isn't going to be a week 1 starter. Plenty of depth in the draft that you can get any of those guys starting in the third. LB, even a starter, is easily taken care of in the middle rounds. NT and TE, IMO, have the biggest bang for the buck early compared to what you have to work with in the early going.
Should hope for a trade down. 27 is a good spot for a team to jump up for a QB. You could get a second and third from a team that already picked in the first. 2, 2's and 3, 3's and you could get a WR, OLB, RT, DT and a TE that should all make the team.
I know we have holes at multiple positions but considering how many later picks we have and how minute the possibility of anyone that we pick that late in the draft, does anyone think we can take a chance on Marcus Lattimore? He was a first round talent before his injuries and would have the luxury of learning behind Foster and Tate (before the latter leaves in FA) then we would actually have a competent RB to pick up wherever Ben Tate decides to leave off. Just a thought.
Don't know much about the players, but your arguments about what positions to draft are spot on. Would love a NT or TE in rd 1.
Everyone has a preference on what positions the Texans should address in the first two rounds. You can honestly make a case against any of those positions.
Some of the draft profiles illustrate just how clueless people are at this point in evaluating prospects. Case in point - this review of JJ Watt by Walter Football back in 2011. It's not like they were a complete miss. All his strenghts are pretty much what he has been offering the Texans and what's made him an All-Pro defender. Strengths: Terrific size and long arms Relentless pass rusher Quick off line Good athlete - former tight end Strong run defender Scheme and position versatility High character leader with outstanding work ethic Plenty of upside I just believe everyone really underestimated Watt's work ethic and constant motor. The biggest difference between 1st round talents I see are hunger, some guys (Nick Fairley for example) just aren't hungry enough to want to win and play at the elite level. They're just content playing well/medicore, mind you they all have talent, just don't have the drive to become the players that dominate the game.
I will restate that the Texans should take a WR and a OLB in the first two rounds. Since the WR draft class is deep, I would not be surprised (though I would be disappointed) if the Texan drafted a OLB first.

Assuming he runs well this sat., carradine (DE/OLB from FSU) in the 1st, WR in the 2nd. With WRs dropping like stones (Allen and Patterson now rumored to be 2nd round picks) the Texans need to target another position in the 1st. I'm hoping defense and I'm hoping passrush. If history tells us anything, that's a pretty good bet.

Agree 100% Mayock has great analysis and I believe is well "plugged in" to NFL GMs around the league. I believe a lot of what he says. The WalterFootball.com site is nice cause it provides a large mock draft 5 or 6 rounds deep. But with 32 teams and so many picks, the amount of time invested in each team cannot be significantly high which results in ill-informed picks. I use the site as well but I dont trust the picks as much as I do other websites.
