I believe it's safe to say that this Rockets team has far exceeded our expectations this year. A complete rebuild and roster overhaul, very young players, lowest payroll and we still made the playoffs. Not to mention, we are now one of the most exciting teams in the league to watch. Everyone involved in the organization including ownership, management, coaching staff, and players deserve a tremendous amount of credit and respect for a job well done. Regardless of what happened last night against the lakers, the previous game against the suns, and regardless of what happens in the upcoming playoffs. The critical "hate" threads against McHale, Harden, Lin and others are completely idiotic and just sickening to read. Considering the mediocrity that we as Rockets fans have had to endure the past few years, we should be so grateful that we now have a fun, very competitive team with an extremely bright future. Sure they make mistakes and don't always play up to everyones expecations, which are usually unreasonable anyway, but they do always play hard and they do play together amazingly well. Especially for a young team that's only been together for a short time. If you're a bandwagon fan that just has to have a "perfect" team, go cheer for the heat or thunder. For me, it's more enjoyable and exciting to cheer for an up and coming underdog that's exceeding expectations. It makes winning much more special. Whether we get swept by OKC or go on a crazy run through the playoffs, I ask everyone on Clutch Fans to ease up a little on the criticism and "hate" threads, appreciate our team and the fantastic season we've had, enjoy the playoffs win or lose, and look forward to a championship in the very near future. It's coming!!!
Finally, someone who is reasonable. I can't believe this guys went from tanking to thinking we are contenders. (>.<)
You ask for no more hate threads yet your thread is hating on hate threads.....obviously I'm kidding. I agree some of these threads have been ridiculous. Thread requirements need to be changed
This thread was already heading in that direction when it was made. Can't get them to see things your way when you call them "Idiots" and "Pathetic" etc. etc. I mean what do you expect them to say..."Yes, you're right, i'm wrong, i'm an idiot, i'm sorry?" Anyway, carry on...
I understand that your post may be logical, but please let me project my values and morays unto players on our roster since it makes me feel justified and alright with my place in the world.
"A New Age" was the worst thing to ever happen to Clutchfans LOL Liked the post OP. I hope that'll be the case, but people will whine regardless of what happens. It's a shame, but fools will be fools...
What bothers me about "we exceted expectations, be happy that we are in the play offs" is that it sweeps very important factors under the rug. Yes we acomplished our goals, but saying well 45 wins is our goal and stoping at that isnt good enough knowing, simple decisions could have easily got us 50plus, better advantages for the future, free agent possiblities. What worries me right now is trying to convince max contact players to come to houston and be coached by mchale. If we didnt faulter imsure i wouldnt be concerned
I don't feel a need to ease up. Two years go this team went 43-39. This year we're 45-37 and an 8th seed. This team has light years to go before anyone should be happy with the team.
I don't like the hate for Kevin McHale. He doesn't deserve it. Like when I went to see Chappelle in Houston along time ago, me and some other old school Rockets fans saw Don Chaney. We hollered at him and he recognized. Don Chaney coach of the year. 2pac 'I ain't mad at cha'
Have to agree. I have been reading this board since it started, and I never remember seeing such a large collection of reactionary emotional 13-year old lunatics posting. Basketball is supposed to be a fun release from the stresses of everyday life, but people on here seem apoplectic about a regular season loss. Everyone needs to chill the **** out. Oh and for the record, [insert favorite player's name here] is not always right, and [insert least favorite player or coach's name here] is not always wrong. We have a team full of young exciting players, who are very inconsistent. One bad game does not make a young player "terrible" and one good game does not make a young player a "superstar."
thats just how sports manipulates your mind. I like all of the players and definitely think we exceeded our expectations this season, but i was mad as hell last night.
While I'm glad that the Rockets have exceeded some people's expectations, it seems clear that with a better coach this team could easily have an extra 5 or more wins. We shouldn't be settling for being an 8th seed if the team is good enough to be a 6th seed.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Too many people whining right now and expecting us to be a 50 win team.
It's how all humans react to anything really. No one would be this pissed off if they didn't care so much initially. I don't mind if anyone criticizes the players or who they play, they can defend themselves if needed, heck they probably don't even a give a *$*, what we think. But then it's taken further and people start attacking each other. You have to ask yourself, am I defending the player, or am I defending my ego? I know I've been guilty of the latter, several times since joining this site.
They want INSTANT results. They're too impatient to focus on the big picture. They measure success, rate, and judge our team and players based on game by game results.
Exactly I never understand when people say "we were the 9th seed the last 2 years and now were the 8th seed, are we supposed to be happy?" How they fail to recognize that those past teams were filled with older more experienced players who for the most part had peaked, while this team probably doesn't have a single player other than Delfino and Garcia who have peaked as players. Absolutely no patience anymore.
