McHale is not a coach material. His decision is based more on political consideration than winning games. Had Harden not rested for last two games Rockets wouldn't have gotten to the playoffs. And this doesn't prevent the coach from resuming Rockets' losing mode gradually once he has the personals.

i knew the game was lost as soon as howard touched the ball in the post and mchale started sending crazy double teams despite the fact that asik is a good defender who is as big if not bigger than howard and can more than hold his own against him.

even JVG was wondering why mchale didnt let asik guard him one on one.

Lin despite shooting horribly, had 8 assists and was orchestrating the offense well. Mcfail with his usual stupid substitution patterns sits Lin out for almost an entire quarter between the 3rd and 4th along with harden and asik and that's when the lead started evaporating. Not only was the lead evaporating mcfail refused to call a timeout to stem the momentum of the game. Mcfail waited too long to put asik, lin, and harden back in the game.

Putting delfino on gasol was just straight stupid when you had dmo on the bench. It would have also served the rockets well to have both Lin and beverly since jodie meeks can be held with Lin and beverly on Blake. Beverly started off slow in the 3rd then heated up and started making things happen so what does mcfail do? Takes out Beverly who started heating up and puts back an ice cold Lin who has been sitting out almost an entire quarter.

There was just so much coaching fail last night it was mind boggling how anybody can defend mcfail now.

This was brutal to watch. This is the play our coach comes up with in crunch time.

No seriously. My LP was blocked out & I was watching on firstrow so the stream was iffy. What was the play mchale drew up that had Lin on DH12.

Lin was going to set a screen on Howard (he squares his shoulders up) to get Smith the Ball so that Smith could then hand it off to Harden.

I'm guessing that was the play after seeing it on television because they were trying to just get the ball to Harden after he inbound it, and Smith did eventually get the ball and gave it to Harden.

Problem is that they'd already run that play so Dwight knew the score and just obliterated Lin and broke up the play. Really sad to see such a lack of a playbook

    When?

I'm sure he's done it. It's a common play for end game situations to have your guy in bound it, get it back and then ISO him..but rarely do you have your PG (or whatever position he plays) risking his body on Dwight like that.

Only McHale knows, cuz I don't think Lin or anyone else does.

DMo seems to have elite post game.
You cannot win in today's NBA with playing with 2 bigs with no jump shot or any post up skills .. McHale never called plays for DMo in the post to see how effective he could be.
DMo's defense is bad, but that would improve overtime once he gets more playing time.

that was hilarious, Lin to set a pick on Howard for Smith to hand off to Harden - lol

wouldn't it have been easier for Smith to set a pick for Lin, and then Lin can be a threat as well as Harden, as Lin can than decide to pass to harden, shoot or pass to someone else who may have been open....plus the fact that Smith has the size and weight to set a better pick!!

Technically, that's a foul on Dwight Howard. You can't just plow through a screen. That's always a textbook foul.

Also, the Delfino at Powerforward thing has to stop. It defies all logic.

Think it's pretty clear that Terrance Jones is the best PF on the roster. Yet he's the only PF (outside of Royce White--who by the way was a McHale draft pick) to not get a single start this year. We've started Patterson, Morris, Smith, and Motiejunas (who's playing time dropped to almost nothing).

How you go an entire season without correctly identifying your best player at a position is a complete failure of talent evaluation. It's obvious that Jones deserves more playing time than what the coach gave him and a decision like that can cost us games. That's a fireable offense.
