You can try to spin this as a victory for the gun control side if you feel like it. No one cares about national carry anymore. The "sane states" have worked it out between themselves. In the last few years a Texas CHL has become valid in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. Cheers.
It's not being a fortune teller, more about reading the present. The Republicans tried to pass their own alternative bills, one of which garnered 52 votes. Too bad the "new Senate" requires 60 (wtf). anyways, to get nothing passed because the Senate suddenly requires 60 votes is detrimental to the American people, was detrimental, and will be detrimental. don't have to read fortunes to figure that **** out.
About 20 states are missing from that, and perhaps always will be. Oh, any other goodies you might want in terms of expansion of gun rights? Any Republican regressive initiative you want to propose? We don't have to stop at gun rights. Anything else will have to face 60 votes. Where will the 60 votes come from, what with a Democrat president hovering around the 50 percent approval rating, and a 5.4% differential in the generic congressional vote in favor of Democrats? http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/generic_congressional_vote-2170.html A Pyrrhic victory, at best.
Might want to work on your counting, and this defeat didn't start the 60 vote trend. The real enjoyment is watching the meltdown. This effort was doomed from the start. Now Sam is wondering “Who am I supposed to vote for? The Republican who’s blasting me in the ass or the Democrat who’s blasting me in the ass?” “We pay their salaries and they turn around and ass blast us? Come on.” Yes guys politics is all one big ass blast. Spoiler
Might want to work on your reading--->about. I don't have time to parse out every state, sorry if you hand-wrote each one, but ain't nobody got time for that. Hope you enjoy the meltdown when Republicans try to pass regressive bills, and 60 votes stop them. Nothing significant will ever pass in this country for a while, and people are already blaming the Republicans. Create a new Congress from the anger, and a new Supreme Court from new progressive appointees, and suddenly, I think there's quite a bit of enjoyment to be gathered. Think of everything you would want to pass in the country. Now, basically resign yourself to the fact that it never will. (in fact, almost nothing significant ever will under these new rules). Enjoy.
Wow, this post is like a culmination of wingnut talking points. We have: Exhibit A: A sweeping generalization that since the legislation does not prevent all shootings, that it is not worth the time of day. Exhibit B: An example of a weapon that does not have 10% of the killing power of a gun as a reason why gun control is not necessary. Exhibit C: The good ole slippery slope argument that proves that if we pass one piece of gun legislation we will one day all be disarmed and unable to fight off foreign invaders. (We could still theoretically fight them off with hammers though, right?) Well done, sir.
You used the term "this country" wouldn't that mean Canada? FYI. I don't give a crap about politics outside of gun control, and I'm not a republican. How could I be after they nominated a gun hater like McCain for president? "I had a .45 when I flew in the war" So when I "Think of everything you would want to pass in the country." I begin to think of the Rockets playoff chances.
Rayciss. You got lot's of time to post obscure blogs and leftist propaganda. I'm perfectly fine keeping things as they are currently. I can carry my concealed handgun to ABOUT fifty states.
It could mean Pakistan for all that you know, this is the ******* internet. Hell, I could be a sophisticated commie-bot from China, good at taking the guise of Canadaness to hide my ulterior motives to steal your bases. Cool, keep it within the confines of gun control, if you have no interest at all in anything policy-related to your country (guess you're perfectly happy with everything, good for you!). Again, I need to emphasize that this is a very back-handed victory at best, bought with bad-faith tactics.
Copy and paste takes about 10 seconds, and I suppose I read faster than you. hit a nerve though, haven't I? Propaganda. haha. I don't know, I do post a lot from academic peer-reviewed sources, it seems to me as if the truth hits a bit too hard for you. I guess the truth has a leftist twinge to it.
I do find it interesting though that the very same people that cry for background checks for foodstamps and voting fight so hard against background checks for guns.
Is the foodstamp background check real? I think the more relevant comparison is the abortion one. Anti-aborters want to throw up roadblocks like invasive, unnecessary procedures just to make it more difficult to abort. They cannot attack the constitutional right, so they try to create un-needed red tape.
Yes, of course I'm mad about this, and you all should be too, if you gave a damn about your country. Even those on the gun lobby side should realize at what price this victory was given. I don't really understand the negative denigration of anger on the internet. There are things worth getting pissed about. I'm not exactly smashing windows or anything, but if you don't get a twinge in your stomach reading about this s**t (and subsequently channeling that anger into action) something MAY be wrong with you.
I guess that's where it twists the most eh? that whole regressive agenda---60 votes. Obama-appointed justices. Kiss it goodbye.
not a doctor (no seriously I'm not), but I haven't seen many that think a pre-abortion transvaginal ultrasound is needed.
