For those looking to donate to help victims of this tragedy. These are 2 known legitimate charities.

Of course donations to RedCross & Salvation Army are always a good idea to provide immediate support for when emergency situations like this occur.

This is pretty much exactly what happened according to something I read but am too lazy to link, I think it was on Deadspin maybe or slate yesterday.

I mean honestly, a bunch of people in running clothes or whatever who maybe can't get back to their homes or hotels due to security lockdown - who's going to begrudge them promotional jackets (that are going to become macabre souvenirs at that point anyway...)

not complaining. Just pointing out that crying about racial profiling and then making the same racially based remarks about other races requires a high degree, of shall we say, nuance?

You think the people who throw bricks through windows during a natural disaster and run off with all the beer deserve the benefit of the doubt?

actually apologize for the snarky emoticon. you're right, i really dont know whether you did think a white guy or not. My assumption is that th rest of America would if they heard that in the same way they'd think of white people when the words tea party are conjured up. anyway I'll agree to disagree with you on this

one interesting detail I have not seen mention of in this thread (read about in a post on the times of india site): the pressure cookers were 6L, for 6 Liters. most cookware sold in this country, or at least manufactured for sale here, is in quart sizes. for instance, i have a kitchen full of pots, a food processor, blender, all from different manufacturers, and some from european companies- all of it is marked in quarts.

i'm sure there are plenty of stores that sell gray market goods, or one could just drive to canada, or to an ethnic hardware store, and easily find a cooker in liters, particularly in a large cosmopolitan city. and it's just as easy for an american to do this as it is for a foreigner.

so it doesn't point to "who", but does narrow the search a bit as they try to trace the path of one of the primary bomb components.

Since it's taking a while I'm now guessing he's not a Arab person because those would logically be investigated first.

Dude.. let it go. They questioned him. I'm sure they're questioning (or at least trying to question) many people right now as we speak. He wasn't thrown in jail or anything.

There were no laws broken, due process was upheld.

Like this circuit analysis (whether or not I agree he can extrapolate all this from the photos.) Dude suggests triggers used guts of remote control cars, meaning trigger-man probably had to be within 300 feet. (b*stard.)
