I'm kind of surprised this hasn't been asked yet. Maybe it has and maybe I'm too lazy to look. It's not on the first page anyway.

One of the things I LOVE about this team is the potential. That word ("potential") gets thrown around a bit I know (it's better than "asset" right?) but honestly, we've got a team of great potential. I think the playoffs often showcase potential. Not always, but it seems to me the drama of the playoffs often brings out the best in certain players. So here's the question. What player is most likely to show us the extra gear they have hiding in their "potential" this playoff season?

That's true. When it's unrealized. But I think we signed Lin because of his ceiling over Dragic. I think management felt they had seen everything Dragic was going to give whereas Lin had a greater upside. That and the billions of fans worldwide who are crazy for Lin. Sure potential can be overrated. It can be a trap (ie Terrence Williams) that entices you into a deal that you later regret (ie Stromile Swift) but it can also blossom into something great and unexpected.

If this was about who has the greatest unrealized potential on the team, I was prepped to vote Motiejunas. But since the question is who will show it in the upcoming playoffs, I voted Parsons. He is likely to make himself a house hold name if the Rockets have a decent showing in the playoffs.

    Lin.

Because he's the only player there underperforming.

Jeremy Lin in my opinion. Post all star game he is averaging 15ppg, 5.8 apg, 46.2 fg% and 38% from threes in 31 minutes per game. These are great numbers, especially in what I consider his first whole season not getting garbage minutes. If he works on his shot more in the offseason and gets that floater his coach is talking about, watch out.

Do you mean realistic potential or pure physical potential? If it's pure physical potential, then it's gotta be the biggest guy on the team, Omer Asik. It's not impossible for him to develop post moves, improve his hands, become a deadeye shooter, and become a go to guy on offense and still be a DPOY candidate, making him a top 3 player in the NBA. However, all of that are extremely improbable. The highest realistic potential is probably James Harden or Jeremy Lin.

Taking Harden out of the equation because he's already a young super star who's only going to get better(IMO), I would say Terrence Jones has the most upside and potential of the bunch. He can play 3 positions on the floor and he's a legitimate shot blocker and rim protector. He's the most versatile player on the team.

If were talking about "unrealized potential", then it's gotta go to Terrance Jones. The guy can block shots, has decent handles for a pf, and has been a pretty solid all around guy thus far.

Most of the other players listed already have their potential realized.

T Jones so far has shown a lot of amazing stuff the for small window of opportunity he has been given... the training camp next season will do wonders for him... I believe he has the upside of becoming a better josh smith in the future... maybe 3-4 years down the road...

I didn't vote for Harden because he's already on a level that it's not hard to expect him putting up his numbers even during playoffs. I voted for JLin because I think he's on the verge of breaking out. If Harden or Parsons get extra attention during playoffs, JLin's bound to break out. I'll also vote for Jones if I can vote for 2. So far he's a revelation. I think he can still show much better defense than what he's showing now.
