So he should have put it in his pocket and risk being searched on his way out?

Only stupid if he left finger prints on the device and it was traceable back to him.

Poor girl, I think she is in one of the graphic pics with her mangled legs twisted like a pretzel and apparently bled out...

Probably so. The responder over her is checking her pulse in the picture. Also, iPhone directly underneath her hand could mean she tried to call someone before dying. There is actually 2 pictures of her.

Talk about terrible spot for a sign. Firehouse Subs, Well Done!

early reports are often mistaken; nothing new.

Again, I don't know much about bombs and IEDs, but isn't the trigger part of the bomb. It is the trigger mechanism inside the bomb, connected to a receiver, in the case a cell phone is the transmitter. So, the trigger explodes as part the bomb.

I thought trigger devices (e.g., circuit boards) are the most prized thing the bomb squads and CSI look for in the field of evidence.

Yes? Versus having the board certainly discovered after combing the scene and having it (probably easily) traced, fingerprints or not?

my sister, who is not from NY, & her husband ran the NYC marathon in 2001- i cautioned against it, because of fears of something like what happened yesterday. she went ahead, and it was a wonderful, uplifting experience for all.

They probably should not have released his name but detaining a Saudi national at the scene of a terrorist attack isn't anything but damn prudent. Lets not pretend we live in fantasy land.

Good for them. The best thing we can do in the face of madness like this is to not let fear dictate our lives.

I've seen at least three CSI episodes where they found the "trigger device" and made a big deal about it like it was the prized piece of evidence. That's my source. :)

It also sounds like it flew in the opposite direction of the blast/ball bearings, which seems to make sense.
