I am not talking law suit. Without CSN, Uverse is a lemon that is basically only watched for the Bachelor in my household. I feel completely ripped of even though I don't have legal standing.

Maybe in your household, but I know lots of people who have Uverse who watch a lot of other things using that service.

Your assertion that Uverse is either tonight's ball game or the Bachelor are dramatic and totally inaccurate.

I am sure other people watch other things. I am just frustrated and feeling very ripped off paying for a service that no longer carries the rights to content all the content we want. My fault for being in a contract.

They lost a customer once the contract us up.

Yeah, its too bad your favorite sports team decides to take the teams away from services like Uverse.

Maybe is FSN didn't talk more about the Rangers and Cowboys the Rocket would still be on there. The Rockets were out of contract and created a great channel.

    Deal with it.

    Deal with what?

I'm not denying that CSN is a good channel. But don't blame Uverse or Dish for Fox Sports supposedly treating the Rockets and Astros like trash. Both of those teams saw the potential dollar signs with creating their own channel anyway.

Then why blame them? You'd do the same if given the opportunity right? They were out of contract and FSN told them they were not going to pay them a respectibale amount. FSN was banking on the Rockets and Astros to sell low.

The profit the Rockets see in the next 10 year from CSN directly effects what they can do on the basketball court talent wise but you want them to lose money?

You can be all pissy about them choosing CSN but what about 20 years ago when all your Astros and Rocket games were on free TV (Paramount 20)?

This is the nature of the business now. You could even say that this deal is part of the reason my Les is willing to sign another max player. Isn't that what you want as a fan?

Marketing has always been about creating the perception in people that you want them to 'feel' is reality. Shills have been around since the invention of bartering; but the new pervasiveness of anonymous interaction is going to mean you have to question the message and the motive of everything you read. You will never know exactly who and exactly why for anything. Just assume, everyone wants your money.

Did they revoke the salary cap?

TBH, Speaking to STHs that have had seats for at least 6 years each it's the first time they've seen a price increase. I'd say that's surprising.

No, but the money Morey uses to buy picks might not be available if Les doesn't have the extra money in the budget to spend on them. The amount of money that Les has spent on extra draft picks does not come from under the CBA salary structure but from the Rockets operating expenses.

Also could have a direct impact on willingness to pay luxury tax.

This appears to have been very shrewd. From what I can tell, nothing is going to change other than how money is divided. They are staying with the same provider deals, same channel it is even still being called ROOT Sports.

Yes, from what is being reported it will have no effect at all on which carriers have the teams, so there is nothing to this as far as comparing it to Astros/Rockets

This deal could obviously have an impact on the Rockets spending, but no where near as much as the Astros. Les might be willing to spend more in luxury taxes if he is raking it in on TV. The money for extra picks might come from operating expenses, but in reality that amount is small compared to the overall salary cap figures. Not saying it wouldn't have an effect on the Rockets, but it would have more of a personal effect on Les than it would on the team . .

Now with the Astros, it all comes down to Jim Crane. He could use the extra income to increase payroll which could have a dramatic effect on the team in future years. Or, he could claim it is needed to pay down debt from the purchase and could talk about the lack of income in the early years of his ownership and just soak a lot of it up for himself. If he is truly interested in winning World Series titles, it could have an impact.

It would be interesting, although not necessarily relevant to this discussion, to actually know how much Jim Crane and Les Alexander are really worth. From most outward discussion it would seem Les has deeper pockets, but who knows which numbers to really believe. I've seen Les total worth at around 1.6 billion, but have also seen that he lost "substantial" money in the student loan company. Jim appears to have a personal wealth of under a billion in many articles I read leading to him getting a franchise, although i've read that his total worth is around 2 billion in other places. Suppose it is not really possible to know the actual truth of these guys, and i'm sure they want it that way

That wasn't their decision. It was the Astros and Rockets that made that decision.

well - I broke down and made the switch.

As everyone already knew - Comcast quite possibly has the worst customer service on the face of this earth.

Even the rep installing the service said they were the devil - and then added that he works for the devil, so what does it say about him...

on the plus side - the picture is actually crisper than att. the internet speed is faster. and CSN Houston is a great product as everyone has noted.

I feel for those of you that have no option of subscribing.

For those that do - I encourage you to either get a discount from your current provider or make the switch. Don't just sit complacent.

Personally, I did both and wouldn't have switched unless a comcast rep was at my door offering me a better deal than att was providing after having already discounted my rate.

It has already come with the pain of 3 phone calls to their customer service department. A remote control that doesn't take programming. The delivery of only 2 HD and 1 Non-HD recievers when I specifically ordered 3 HD.

But having missed the whole season of the rockets and dealing with smokey bars, it is very nice having my teams back on my TV.

Problem is, when the box goes out you will not just miss your teams, you will miss tv all-together until their you go stand in their long lines to get a new box . . .that was my experience anyway, not one i'm interested in going through again
